How powerful could my 405nm be?

laida-eb or something. Chinese seller, bought as a pack of three, though you might want to avoid doing that as the red one seems to actually be 5mW unfortunately and the green one takes like 90 seconds to warm up and mode-hops like anyone's business.

How powerful could my 405nm be?

Hey there. I got a 405nm pointer off of the old eBay and as expected it is grossly overspec'd. I noticed this when I nearly burned myself when shining the laser at my moustache. However, it's a tad more powerful than I initially expected - I was surprised to find I could see the beam in...

    I bought a new laser

If it's 500mW you'll absolutely need some goggles. Now that's probably got an IR filter in but just to be sure with that high power you will probably need a green and IR filter. Don't even think of getting that without goggles.

    Solid 20~30mw rechargeable greenie

The only suggestion I can give at this point is this thread. It has links to loads of merchant sites, one of which might supply the laser you want - you probably have a higher chance of getting a diode and a driver than a whole pointer in one go.

    1.5 W green handheld laser?

Hahaha sorry, my bad! I should read the thread more before I post. :yabbem:

    1.5 W green handheld laser?

I just asked the uploader of the video about this, and this was his reply: So looks like it's a damn powerful piece of kit!

[Pictures] The Infrared component of my Green DPSS laser.

Judging by the quality of the host there's probably an auxiliary laser dedicated just to that indicator light, haha.

    Solid 20~30mw rechargeable greenie

Have a look at this. It's more powerful than what you've asked for and I've never used the website myself before but that takes 18650s and is cheap enough to not matter if it's not too good.

Wow! Are you using an infrared camera or just a normal one that can see infrared somewhat? If that's a normal camera it'd be fantastically bright with an infrared one! Can you see it with your eyes? I can imagine that at that brightness you'd see some form of red glow or something. How much was...

[Pictures] The Infrared component of my Green DPSS laser.

Oh wow, those IR shots are infinitely better than my webcam hack, haha. It does seem that IR leakage is a fairly large problem in any DPSS laser, it'd just be different wavelengths of infrared being leaked. How would you be able to get around it without a massive unwieldy heatsink? My first...

    adjustable frequency diode?

I wonder if it would be possible to do this with some form of dye laser? I know certain dyes like Bromothymol Blue and Phenolphthalein change colour and absorption characteristics according to pH. Would it be possible to run your laser through a cylinder of Phph and change the pH by adding acids...

    Any Laser Module 850nm - (-40℃!) ?

The specs of that only say -10'C to +40'C - I think OP is looking for something that works cryogenically. Why does the operating temperature have to be so low, OP? If you do (miraculously) manage to find a diode that works at all at that temperature it's going to be unstable and dim at best.

[Pictures] The Infrared component of my Green DPSS laser.

It did surprise me at first - I'm no expert, but my theory is the frequency-doubling crystal only starts to give off 532nm after a certain threshold of 1064nm is absorbed, so until you jam your finger on the button there's too little infrared light hitting the crystal and so only the infrared is...

    Extracting fluorescein from highlighters

This. Isopropyl is basically that alcoholic handwash that you get in those hygienic gel things - even at the, what, 40% concentration that it's in there it still works for extracting fluorescin (and permanent pen from your shirt!). You just need to leave it a bit longer to evaporate.

I too expected the infrared to be little more than a glow. Turns out that it's actually as focused as the laser, even my crappy camera can pick up the infrared from the bottom of my garden at night. Here's the red and green lasers together: The red one is the little one. I got it about 10...
