I ordered this
High-Power 200mW Red Laser Pen (Burns Match + Visible Beam Daytime) [E0648] : Electronic Gadgets, Home Gifts & Unusual Novelty Gifts - BestOfferBuy
The bad news is it took over 12 weeks to arrive and I had just written it off as a total loss. But it finally came. I measured it...
Re: J.BAUER Electronics LaserBee 2.5 Watt USB only + Data Logging $129.99.. In Stock
Laserbee arrived today. The software and drivers installed very easily and I was finally able to measure my DIY lasers as well as some cheap bought ones.

In the laser hosts that take two lithium batteries, wouldn't the voltage be somewhere around 2 times 3.6 or 7.2 volts? What kind of drivers do they use?
Even if that would drop the voltage, would it be bleeding the power off as heatf in the diodes? If so it's not too attractive to me. Almost defeats the pupose of having a very high energy density battery if your're going to use up energy in heat. There's probably some switched power supplies...
The flex was set up by you at 900mA. I have to admit it makes a very nice and impressive Blue Laser with the diode I also bought from you.
I have a Laserbee on order and I'll see what it is putting out with its glass lens when it arrives. I'm guessing around 700 to 800mW. I own very high...
Thanks. Especially since you sold me the driver :yh:
I did try to drive it with a 3.6 volt UltraFire ICR123A800mAh but is didn't seem to have enough current. I'll probably need higher capacity ones, or maybe C or D cells.
On the home made linear drivers, the heat on the regulator chip went...
If a flex drive is adjusted to a fixed current output (900mA) at 5 volts input, then if the input voltage is increased will the current remain stable? If the input voltage is increased, will the driver get hotter?
I have a DIY blue laser running off a wall wart at 5 v but I'm thinking of...
I have a slight tremor and haven't been able to attach leads to diodes the usual soldered way. I got a wirewrap tool from radio shack and started attaching leads to laser diodes using this. It works fine and I have a couple of burning working lasers that I used this technique to get the leads...

thanks
I now have 7 DIY lasers. From input mA and graphs I estimate the blue one is 750mW 5 red ones are probably 300mW and a green one is maybe 150mW. I look forward to seeing what they really output. They...
I've seen the data graphs and some of the product numbers, and I've burned up some RLD65PZB5 diodes I got on ebay by pushing them to 400ma (obviously a bad idea).
But search as I may, I cant find a seller for a red diode that will withstand prolonged 400ma input.
Anyone know where to get them...
Interesting FYI news
This news is from Popular Science on an apparently brand new technique for creating lasers
Headline:
MIT offshoot develops a new technique to create more powerful direct diode laser systems.
Company is called Terradiode.
They plan on developing anti missile defenses among...
Thanks, Perfect.
Of the common diodes we buy, only green is pumped.
MW for MW higher frequency (shorter wavelength) has more energy and probably better material absorption.
Of visible things, in general, they reflect most of the color we see. So green objects would absorb green badly, red...
