Well, I got them and, SURPRISE , not great. After a week+ of asking them about the battery specs and, them telling me anything over 3000mAh would "kill the laser", they sent 5000mAh batteries. When asked about that, they claimed they were doing me a favor.
The rest will be explained in the...
Apparently, I am an idiot! I haven't really done a lot with lasers since my down time in 2009. About a year ago I managed to separate one of the leads from the diode on my Jayrob. there is no way I have the tools (or coordination) to solder the thread-like lead back onto the diode without...
On a whim, I ordered a (supposedly) 200mW version each of a 405, 532 and 650nm laser from assassinlasers.com in a combo pack for $110. Before I ordered, I asked their customer service several questions via email (including the actual power of each). They seemed to respond quickly, though they...
Hey Jay. I do have one more question about output vs. input. I just tried lighting a match with my newly built laser, and held it well focused for 20+ seconds, from a foot away, with no real effect. I then swapped the old ones with brand new batteries (I had to scavenge batteries last night...
Well, the module arrived yesterday and it's now together. I sacred the hell out of myself when I first put it together. I soldered the leads together and coated them with a thin layer of silicone sealant, to keep them from shorting, and assembled it. I hit the button and nothing, so I shut it...
I just got the package, and it looks great. It's even smaller than I thought it would be, and it looks like the build will be even easier. Unfortunately, the module I ordered Friday, Didn't ship out until yesterday, so I guess I'll have to wait.:cryyy:
Tomorrow I'm going to the hardware store...
I just had been reading in the posts, that either they were too expensive or couldn't get them delivered to wherever, so I posted the link. I figured since I can get one for half that at the hardware store, and how inexpensive (read cheap) DX usually is, that the accuracy should be good enough...
I cant believe I found this thread. I've been searching for days for something like this, with no luck. I was even going to start a new thread for "Dirty" ways to ballpark output without a power meter using benchmarks and such, then one miracle happened. Completely by accident, I was doing a...
Sorry Jay, I guess I just forgot to hit refresh on this thread's tab the last time I checked it. I am very excited about this, hopefully I can build it this weekend. I appreciate all your help and advice.
:worthy:
Thanks, you Rock!
