The receiver does remain mostly still, but that doesn't have much effect on the recoil forced. Some are absorbed by the movement of the slide but a large amount of force is still applied to the receiver, whatever is mounted to the gun and the users hand. There is a reason surefires weapon...

All mine have been negative towards the apeture/spring positive towards the "clip". I got 2 from etimeshop and 1 from another seller. The etimeshop pens flank the other sell above and below on output/brightness. One of the etimeshop pens is really bright though.

Both mine made it no problem. But no batteries. Slightly different colors between them and one is noticeably brighter then the other and will give a visible beam at night when your close to source (if your behind the laser its a bright gorgeous violet beam, 4 feet to one side and you can't see...

I wont shine my 50mW in the house at all usually. its outside only and on no reflective surfaces more then 50-75 meters away. Call me paranoid but eyes can't (currently) be replaced.

One of them members has a neat setup with a blue laser (473nm I assume) here: I was wondering if it was possible to do this with multiple lasers and "combine" the beams like in the 7 color laser build with something (a prism? sorry, noob here) and then split them back out or other cool things...
