    Another HeNe power supply question

Thanks... those cables look great. Much easier to work with than coax, I'm certain. Also, as for the tube mounts you're looking for, I'm guessing you mean the ones that go on each end of the tube and have integral electrical connectors...? They're the ones I've seen in the kits from Sam, anyway...

    Another HeNe power supply question

Where did you find the Alden connectors with dual leads? I've mostly seen the ones with coax, also. Coax looks neater, but I think dual, separate leads would be much easier to hook up.

    2mW 543.5nm green He-Ne tube help

Thanks so much for your help and advice on this. I got some further info from MI regarding the PSU and it turns out that it actually does have adjustable current via a pot, in the range of 5mA - 6mA. Here is the spec. sheet for it for reference: Voltex F-27 Spec Sheet That sheet is for the...

    2mW 543.5nm green He-Ne tube help

Yes, I have emailed them back again to confirm that the PSU will indeed be ok, just waiting for their response. I figured I'd see what people here thought, anyway. I had wondered if maybe it will still run, but at a lower output power. There were also the other things about which I'm a little...

    2mW 543.5nm green He-Ne tube help

I'm planning on buying one of these tubes I found mentioned in this thread: http://laserpointerforums.com/f46/brand-new-2mw-green-hene-543-5nm-gas-laser-tubes-100-a-63093.html (thanks for the heads up, Helios!) Here are the tubes: NEW 2mW GREEN HELIUM NEON LASER TUBE HeNe Melles Griot | eBay I...

Brand New 2mW Green HeNe 543.5nm Gas Laser Tubes - $100

I think I might post a thread in the gas lasers section, then, in the hopes that someone can give some further advice. You've already been very helpful in clarifying a couple of things, though - thanks! :) I would also assume that MI knows what will work with their tubes, but, I, too, am just a...

Brand New 2mW Green HeNe 543.5nm Gas Laser Tubes - $100

Thanks for your advice! Here is the PSU Chad said he was talking about: http://www.mi-lasers.com/stock/eBay/F-27b.jpg It takes 24V - 30V DC input, supplies 2300V - 3200V and 5.5mA, Voltex model F-27-19 (as per label), $95. I'm not sure if it will be suitable, though. The specs on the label...

Biologist from Pa joins the laser club

Hi, I've also joined very recently after being most impressed by the informative and well-written posts here. I've also been in touch with Garoq regarding ordering the survival laser (currently finalising the order :D). By all accounts, it seems a great kit / build and I can't wait to receive...

Brand New 2mW Green HeNe 543.5nm Gas Laser Tubes - $100

I'm likely going to take one of these. The whole idea of gas lasers is just thrilling! I emailed MI and received a reply from Chad. He said that they can provide a suitable PSU for $95. Does anyone know what this is likely to be and, if so, have any information on it? Aside from the PSU...

Thanks everyone for all your welcomes and helpful advice so far! -Adam

    Hi from Sydney

Yes, that's what I thought you most likely meant. I just wasn't sure, especially since I'm really not familiar with the devices. But that certainly seemed to make the most sense. That way, like you say, it's simply a couple of shipments of components and hardware, which should be perfectly fine.

    Hi from Sydney

Thanks for the clarification. It wasn't that I actually wanted the diode to be removed. That would be a hassle. I was just wondering what you meant, exactly.

    Hi from Sydney

You mean that the diode doesn't even need to be removed at all? So, it's basically just a matter of sending the 'removable' parts separately? I'm not sure how removing the tailcap and other such parts would prevent them from knowing / proving it's a laser... I mean, you'd need them in order to...

    Hi from Sydney

Would having it disassembled as described and subsequently reassembling it require much? I mean, would it require desoldering / resoldering or anything like that? Or is it as simple as unscrewing / unclipping the appropriate parts and then screwing / clipping them back together? Does anyone...

    Hi from Sydney

I had wondered about that. So, is it ok to import the components, even if they're clearly for a handheld laser, like that? i.e. disassembled and in separate packages. If so, how 'disassembled' would it have to be? I'd certainly consider doing that. Also, I'd still like to make one. I just...
