Shhh! If you say his name (or mention his products) three times he will show up. He is like the Canadian Candyman. :eg:

LOL I remember that old movie. Yea the Candyman is much worst than Beetlejuice.

With that sweet price tag, I see it's gathering a lot of interest!

Better stock up! :na:

Cheers!

This looks really interesting. When and where could I buy one and for how much? BTW I am a FOSS user/programmer. I could probably write a nice qt UI for GNU/Linux.

All the best!

Thats an interesting choice there, my OS of choice (Puppy) doesn't commonly use QT so I was planning on doing a Java based GUI and making it OS independant.

Hey all, been getting quite a few PMs regarding this. I'm honored by the response and sorry, as of now, there still in development. I'm not shipping any of these out the door until i'm confident in my calibration. In addition, I still need to construct a batch of them. Right now I only have a few prototypes. This all could take up to a month if not more. If you don't have time to wait, i'd suggest looking at other options.

Also, anyone around here close to North Dakota by chance? I don't have a rather large assortment of lasers to test with. Would greatly appreciate it if anyone was close by and had an evening to spare. :)

I'm just glad you have decided to do something with them instead of keeping it to yourself ;)

Open source would have been cool, but a pre calibrated meter at $100 is awesome too

Is the "press start to begin" stage really needed? Seems unnecessary to me.

Are you using a MSP430 for this thing? BTW the embedded controller you built for programming your reflow oven profiles is awesome.

+1 for this nice lpm  is it also possible that you design a lpm that can take higher power readings?

Howdy all, school has started for me so i've been abit busy. Still working on calibration. Our school labs got a new newport 1916 which is a nice LPM that i'm hoping to do some more calibration on. Trying to go for something abit more accurate than an Ophir 20C-A-1-Y. Not going to release this before its ready and properly calibrated against a real meter. However, looks like by then it might be abit too late ;)

This guy could probably go up 3W+ . Sadly though, I don't have many high powered lasers to test this with. How high were you thinking?

A good cheap way to get a high output is a IR c-mount diode on a TEC.
The TEC makes it so that the power is really stable for calibration, and you can turn up the current to get 3W for calibration :D
