What is the lowest thickness of laser beam?

Hello, there is a table of optics or laser selling that can do a beam diameter of
0.001 mm - 0.00004 inches ? Or 0.01mm - 0.0004 inches?
What is the minimum you know?

Is the optics the way to make it thin, or need the laser to be tiny?

Thank you

There are optics that can make beams with thicknesses less than a few Microns in diameter. Table top, maybe not... Also not in your budget either.

A search about this might help. :undecided:

Sorry i'm most ignorant about lasers measurements...
I search but i can't understand how is measured the diameter of the beams on lasers. Does the "nm" measure tell something about the diameter of the beam?

Thank you

That's wavelength... not the physical diameter. Search.

exactly, 445nm is blue, 532nm is green, 650nm is red

see: Visible spectrum - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Note: use the forum search function for questions before you ask members to do the work for you -- that is the accepted practice of the forum --nobody likes to spend time spoon feeding new members who can easily find the answers themselves. A simple "what are nm" in search would have answered all your questions

Wait the flapper flap my head with the blown bladder.

I know some about wavelenght, but everywhere there are the same measurements - nm and milliwatt - and nobody say about the beam diameter. Thats the optical measurement i think, but seem nobody needs that value.

Per happens meaning you a divergence of beams lasers go?

When chance we connecting, measuring pointy parts as cones be photons go runs as small fangles throw.

Excuse me sir, but I speak Jive.

beam diameter calculator: pseudonomen137's JScript Diameter Calculator

Beam divergence calculator: pseudonomen137's JScript mRad Calculator

Also see: Laser beam profiler - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Come on simple searches return this type of information.

All laser manufacturers and most laser shops/resllers list specs which include: Beam Dia.at aperture in mm amd Beam Divergence in mRad

Look at the specs of a given laser on any good laser web site and you will see same listed---example PL-E V3 Mechanical switch 500mW Green Lasers 532nm, focusable, jetlasers. which is typical.

All you need to measure the diameter at aperture or and whatever distance from the aperature is a ruler---very simple.

What is it you actually want to know or do?

The smaller the diameter the more concentrated the output power -- like starting a fire with a magnifying glass concentrating the sunlight to a small point.

Thank you ecap.
The problem was that in searching lasers for buy, i found only sites with no value of diameter, and i was wondering that was usance because the measurements they give was enough to understand the diameter with maybe some strange calculations. But was only a miss information of these most sellers.

For the fun things, i see you like swift like everybody, read the island of laputa chapter, and you understand the silliness of modern science (today school injected) that he understand 400 years ago.

Bye
