Sensor wanted (for pointers between 10mW and 1W)

i am searching for a analog sensor to build a simple power meter with a µC.
photodiode type or thermo type - no matter

i have tried with a BPW21R, but this diode recognize difference between a 20mW and a 60mW Laserpointer.

ideas

Use a small thermoelectric cooler - that's what most of the DIY LPMs here use, just painted black - can't remember which paint off the top of my head. With a photodiode you need to compensate for different wavelengths, not so much with a TEC.
