Quick question about Ophir sensor

If the value of the Ophir LPM is jumping all over the place. Does it mean that the batteries need replacement ?
I don't have new 9V blocks to test it out.

It is jumping in both cases. In resting it goes from -50 to 50 in random value.

I think its the batteries.. because Ophir needs a steady +/g/- 18v supply and when these 9v batteries go out of juice they are left with just about 6.0-6.2V of potential difference between the poles..

I have found the problem. The LCD panel wasn't getting enough juice. 2 out of 4 AA batteries were dead and the batterypack was delivering only 3.6V.
The voltage panel wasn't working properly at this voltage.

Lucky the Ophir head has nothing to do with it. :D

Be careful that you power the Dual Supply of the OPHIR heads
at the same balanced potential.
Kenom found that out the hard way when a few OPHIR heads in
his Kenometer Lites blew the electronics because one side was
getting all the voltage and the other side got none or very low
voltage due to some defective PS.

BTW... unbalancing the Voltages will falsify the OPHIR Head output
readings.

Thanks for the warning. I am using now two identical 9V primary block. Both cells will be replaced when the time comes. They still measured 8.97Volt.

Yeah i had a dead lcd battery aswell last night :p i was measuring a quite stable laser and all of a sudden it fluctuated with hundreds of mW's and i was like WHUUT? :p Any way i found out that in my build the lcd display draws more current then the ophir. So you will likely have to change the 9V from the display more often then the ophir's cells. Maybe switching to 2x18650 is better, well see :)
