Ophir 20C-a-1-y 2 left @$275

looks like we've been lied to and now they are trying to take advantage of the rest of the buyers. last i talked to them they said they were all sold out and werent getting any more. then two weeks later they list 2 for $225 shipped and those sold within a day. now a week later they have 2 more for $275 shipped? how did they get 4 more when they were sold out? im calling BS and them trying to take advantage of supply and demand.

by all means if you want a ophir, buy it but i dont like their dirty tactics. i bet next week they will have 2 more at $300 shipped

I have to agree with you 100% Livinloud. They definitely know demand when they see it!
I missed out on the first batch, but got one of the second two.
When I contacted them about future availability, they were pretty sure that there would be no more.
They also stated that Ophir didn't want them sold for such a low price.
Who knows, maybe the price increase is being driven by Ophir?
At any rate, it doesn't look as if the price is going down any time soon!

Considering the new ones cost $800+ , these surplus are still eminent and their 0.8s response time, Good luck finding anything like that..

Secondly, we shouldnt forget the price increase has been there from the begining, they were ~$50ish.. once, So, It all drops down to the value/price relation..

P.S: not taking sides with the ebay seller, he's still a c**t for doing that

mehh not gonna buy it for this price. I am sure he also looks at this forum and indeed see's the demand. I think he has way more but just acts like there almost none left.

If nobody buys them price will come down. I bet.

I missed out on the cheap ones too but I'm not paying that much for one. My 2.5W Laserbee works well enough for me.

I don't know why everyone is whining about the price.
When they were ~$50 and increased to ~$100 it was
the same story "I'm not paying $100 for those heads I'll
only pay $50"

Then they went up to $190 and again " I'm not paying
$190 for those heads I'll only pay $100".

Now they are up at $275 from ~$225 and are still cheaper
than buying from OPHIR and now it's "I'm not paying $275
for those heads I'll only pay $225".

And during all that time since the $50 heads guys were
waiting for the prices to drop and they still don't have
one at the price they want.

You'd better get them for an extra $50 because I can see
the price getting closer and closer to the OPHIR price.

I got mine at $195. I had a hard time finding one on ePay and when I saw one, snagged one up quick. Seems I made the right decision.

Looks like my extra Ophir just got more interesting..

I too asked him about more a week or so ago and he said if I am "lucky" he may be able to find one more somewhere "hidden" in his warehouse and to keep an eye out for them.. BS for sure. He is just taking advantage of the interest as i am sure many of us have asked him about them.. I bet you every time the two he has up sell, he'll put two more on for a higher price until we stop buying them, then they will start going back down.
I also agree with jerry, no matter what the price of something is people will always want it cheaper.

Well we (at least i) are not "whining" about the price jerry. It is just that this guy says to the people that message him that there are no more ophir's. Therefore he is artificially raising the level of "want" for everyone (which has a strong effect on a forum). It is smart but is he was an honest seller he would just reply that he is just raising the price because of the high demand and not lie to people. (Assuming he does lie)

About the Whining... I'm talking in general.
Not picking on anyone specifically...

I've been on the Forum long enough to have seen
the same complaining about prices on many items
a zillion times from my first days here.

When I came here a used calibrated LPM would cost
~$1000. Then you could get a Calibrated Hobbyist
LPM for under $400 and the complaints were still
floating around about the price.
If a Calibrated LPM came on the market for $1.00
there would still be people that want it for $0.50.

I understand the frustration of not taking advantage
when the prices were lower. But if the seller sells his
OPHIR heads 10% less than OPHIR it is still a good
price even though we could have had them at $50 a
while back.

I originally bought a few at $50 and have bought some
as high as $370. That was the going price at those venues
and I accepted it because I needed them.

I consider the Low prices of the OPHIR heads as a one
time Sales price that must end at some point.... And it
did.
Maybe that's just me...

As to the motives of the seller...... I have no clue...
Perhaps what he is saying is true...
If anyone thinks he is lying then don't do business
with him. He'll just sell them to people that don't
read this Forum or who don't care because they need
an OPHIR Head before the price goes up again...

Well, whether people think the seller is a scumbag or not, welcome to capitalism in all it's glory. Funny how most Americans think capitalism sucks only when they want something, but are all too happy to live by its tenets when they have something they want to sell.

Whether CClem is being honest is indeed in question.
But, I promise you this scumbag has ONLY one extra Ophir to sell, and as anti-capitalist as I may be, you can bet I'll be trying to get as much as I can for it.
But, since you're all family, I'll try to undercut that Fleebay Jag-off for you guys.
