I have a laser diode:
- 1.5 Watt
- 808nm
- 2.2V
- 1.2A
I need it to be portable but the size doesn't matter.
Is the best way for it to work is to build something or to buy a driver from ebay?
i know how to solder and it would be faster and easier. If it is better, can anyone send me a link for a circuit diagram for my specific laser?

Why do you want a portable laser that emits 1.5Ws of invisible light?

If you want to burn stuff so bad, buy a box of matches or a bic lighter.

That is a good question. I got a 808 laser and to be honest it's the most useless laser in my collection. I have to user a IR modified camera to see the beam.

Can anyone... please... give me a circuit diagram for the laser...
I bought the laser diode and it would be a waist if i wont even try to experiment with it!

Answer my questions and i may give you a diagram or tell you where to get a driver:
What are you going to use this laser for?
Do you know how to use this laser safely?

Google "ddl driver lm317"

Why are you guys stressing him? He wants to build it, not buy it.

Op, in future though, try searching instead of opening a thread. Driver building is a basic thing in this hobby.

Just make sure you are safe. You can't see the beam and you can easily hurt yourself or others

I just want him to answer my questions. 1.5W of visible light is very dangerous and 1.5Ws of almost completely invisible light is very, very dangerous. I am curious as to what he will use it for because he wants it to be portable. Some of the new members don't know the dangers of lasers.

The laser diode shown in this circuit is a negative ground laser diode you have a positive ground laser diode so you will have to take that into consideration, now you will have a positive ground system.

Some one correct me if I'm wrong

It should work for your 1.5W LD but you will have to heat sink the LM317 regulator very well !

I'll say it also you only have two eyes, be careful !!!

Yes... I know how to use the laser safely. I have bought special protective glasses for this exact laser diode...
Will this circuit work for me:

Will I need to change anything? will this work for the high power of 1.5W?

What host do you plan on building it in?
