So just wondering were everybody is buying there wire now that budgetbeams is gone and Jeff-Flaminpyro is unreachable most of the time, I’ve bought from so many sellers on eBay and just can’t find the good stuff, Jordan was nice enough to send me some but curious were everyone is buying from!

I second that question. :D

I currently need a source for the slightly larger gauges like 20 AWG.

Hi As Diachi stated there are plenty of vendors to get top quality silicon wire by the spool in different gauges cheap. Flebay has a multitude of choices here in the states and abroad.. I have 26,24,and 22 Awg on spools very convenient .

It may be pricey, but I like getting 20ft bags from BNTECHGO on amazon.

Pricey is a bit relative here, something like $1 for 10 feet of small diameter wire seems expensive, but it's worth it for good quality wire. It's pretty hard to find really good quality wire though, as in pure copper with silicon isolation that doesn't melt when soldering on it etc.

Personally i prefer the pure copper, non-tinned wire really. That way you can see how much of it is actually copper, and since it's covered by isolation right before you use it, it takes solder extremely well, even better than some of the tin plated copper out there.

If you need to carry a fair amount of current you need to be picky too though. I've had problems with using some of the cheapass dupont connector style wire that got half an ohm of resistance for a 15 cm link. Totally caused the setup i was testing to fail since it lost a full volt in each wire and there was far short of 2 volts to regulate within.

I have spools of the copper wire and plenty of the heavy gauge silicone stuff. What I'm running low on is the small flexible silicone wire. Need about 10 to 20 feet of red and black. I'm not sure of the gauge, but it is for less than 0.5 amps, so it isn't going to carry a lot of current. I need it to fit the small hole on the back half of the nickel plated brass modules. That is a very little hole.

Correct me if I'm wrong guys, but I think the small gauge wire like you get on a DTR module is 28g, and some will step up to 26g for a little more capacity.

Edit: I may be off by one gauge size on the above info.; I checked Flaminpyros site -Here-, and I see that he was selllng 26g wire, which I think is what you get from DTR.

Just to be safe, I ordered 20 feet of 22 gauge and 26 gauge silicone wire in black and red. It will all get used.

Know the difference:
Silicon is a grey, glassy, brittle semiconductor.
Silicone is a heat-resistant rubber-like insulator.

The only person I saw that used the word silicon was Rich. But, he makes typos all the time. I just let it go as I know what he meant to write.

i only bought a not so good silicon wire from ebay once,it was 20awg black and red and the wire wasn't that flexible, like it was iron inside.since then i never had a problem again and still buying from ebay
