G'day,

I ordered 6x of these Samsung ICR18650 3000mAh from LarryDFW here and then went searching for a charger, cottonpickers on CPF had the answer with these beautiful USB chargers WITH 7 segment Voltage display

Each charger comes with a set of alligator clips and magnet attachments to your battery.

They work like a charm!

I also bought a 4.2V 3 current selectable version (300/480/700mA) too.

They are pretty darn cool in my opinion,

They cost me $82USD posted to Australia if you are wondering, not your cheapest charger but certainly a good one :)

Heres a photo of one plugged into my laptop:

Thanks for looking!

Fiddy.

How you're getting 4.2V @ 700mA (2.94W) out of a 5V 500mA (2.5W) max USB line is beyond me, but cool! I think these may only work on USB2.0 as well since USB1.x has a limit of 100mA for loads which do no communicate with the host to negotiate higher power mode approval.

Eh, desktop haha. Wife has the laptop, and it does have USB2.0. I built this rig back in 2005 or maybe it was late 2004. Still running strong, and actually the specs are just slightly under those of my wife's brand new laptop (maybe 6mo old next month). My desktop still outperforms when it comes to GPU centric graphics though.

Fiddy;

The chargers with digital displays look cool.

I am finishing up my first production 4.35 VDC charger today
(for people who can use the higher voltage).

It is a 115-230 VAC charger with ample 900 mah of charging current .

It also has a nice plastic tray for holding the cell .

It does not have the display, but it will be less cost.

I am shooting for $18.95 prepaid with the plastic tray for holding the cell.

I love the idea... unfortunately at the time i built my last rig 3.0 wasn't really an option.

If anybody has a recommendation for something similar with a voltmeter/selectable current, but off of a regular socket, please do tell.

I bet that usb 4.35v charger is based on MCP73831. It can do 4.20v, 4.35v, 4.40v, and 4.50v depending on which one you buy.

I made a usb 4.2v charger @500ma using the 4.2v MCP73831. Mine didn't have the voltage monitor though!

My charger for newer cells is pictured on the link in my signature below in red.

It is 900 mah single cell regulated to 4.35 VDC for $17.95.
