Hey everyone. I don't have a whole lot of experience with the X-Boost™. I am trying to adjust
it for a PL TB450B build and it seems like it's running a bit hot. The heat sink is a 1/4"x3/4"
piece of copper applied with arctic alumina to the driver chip. At around 1.7A, 5.5-6V on the
output side, the board starts getting pretty hot and the output peaks and backs off as it goes
into thermal regulation. All the while, the heat sink seems to stay relatively cool. This is
probably more than it will ever see since the diode should never get to 5V, but it still has me
worried.
I tested the lithium cell, it is fine. The voltage doesn't drop more than a tenth of a volt under
full load. I even tried connecting it directly to the driver to lower the resistance and it did help,
but did not solve the problem.
Is this normal for a 16mm round X-Boost? Could it be that the heatsink moved before the
thermal compound set up? If so, how does one go about removing arctic alumina?
