Problem with 18V 5W Cree Circuit Board for Flashlights (from DX)

hello,

I had mount my laser with a housing from sinner, an M140 diode and a "18V 5W Cree Circuit Board for Flashlights" however I have a problem the diode doesn't light but the led seems to work since I powered it during 1/2 sec with one li ion cell...so that's driver in fault. (i use 2x1640 li ion)
I have 0V at the ouput of this driver

Here's pictures, I have dubts for the soldering of the 2 wires :

Thanks

You need to check these parameters with a test load first.
I think the red wire isnt properly soldered the extra solder looks like bridging with the capacitor(one with yellowish brown component)..

Dont hook it up with your laser diode untill you are confirmed the driver is working.

yeah I know what you mean for the capacitor so the capacitor and the red wire shouldn't have connection ?
OKay I will make a test load tomorray (i haven't enough diode right now)

Thanks

I can confirm your doubts right here. Both of those solder joints are terrible, and need to be redone.

Thanks a lot for your reply,

Ha these chineses^^, i will (try) fix it tomorrow and I will change the wires since they are too thin

I hope the driver is not damage...

Good night

So I made a test load with 6*1N4001 and one resistor (1ohm) (in fact it's potentiometer but we don't care) and I get...... nothing (of course I fix the bridge however there is a contact between this coil and the red wire since I with a screwdriver I saw a copper color)
My test load seems working since I get something with a one cell li ion...
If anyone has an idea how can I find and fix the problem ?Or where can I buy another kind of this circuit in europe (don't want to wait 1 months) even if I will use a LM317

Thanks

It is a buck driver. The input voltage must be higher than the Vf of the diode or testload.
Try with two 3.V cells.

That's didn't work too...I get 0.00V
So I will put it dustbeen and contact DX or maybe you have a better idea ?
Have you got a link to a buck driver like this from Europe ?
I have a LM317 laying around do you think I can use it with 2 li ion cells, I think it will not be a problem (min Vdrop =3, 2 li ion cells = about 7.4-8.4, V blue diode=about 4.5V, so 3+4.5<=V 2 li ion cells)

Thanks
