I'm doing a quick easy 660 build with an LOC (815) and one of Ghost's linear drives, and a battery supply of 2x 16340's. This will NOT be a flashlight style host, I'm attaching the power supply to the side of the heatsink, and then the switch hopefully on top of the heatsink, or battery. A very compact build. Pretty straight forward until I decided a switch and switch cover would be cool. It's new though, so I figured it'd be fun and I might as well give it s shot! In the end, I'd like to use a rocker switch because I could cover it with the switch protector. But if that won't work, then just a momentary on/off switch/button. Also, if at all possible, a pilot light (I just impulse found this on EBAY) If not the pilot light, then perhaps a red LED? Or one in each corner? Or two on each side of the battery? I want something to light up besides the diode when it activates, and I'm incredibly new to LEDS, and switches and all that extra hoo hah.
Any help on the switch and pilot light combo would be much appreciated! Thank you!!!

Have you looked through Digi-Key's switches? I've pulled up a list of all their panel-mount switches that have built in pilot lights and have 350 items...

That still gives me the issue of not knowing how to hook up the switch.

FYI... that Switch Protector is Huge... It protects a standard 20Amp
Toggle switch that requires a 1/2" hole to mount...

Your Pilot light requires 110VAC to light....

Like Trevor said... go to DigiKey and look at what they sell.
When you click on a product number... in most cases the Data
Sheet for the item is available with all the info you need to know
about the item but you will need to read it...

That's a buzz kill, that protector looked really cool :/ And alright, I'll give them a try. STILL need to know where to hook up the switch in everything. That's what I'm still looking for....

If you can handle a seperate pilot light and switch, one of these looks awesome:

it is aptly named a "missile" switch cover. You quite often see those covers flipped up to reveal a toggle switch in the movies just before Something Really Bad (TM) happens.

You simply place a regular toggle switch through the hole, and oreint it so the toggle is down in the off position when the cover is closed. They are spring loaded, and a quick flick of the hand will shut off the switch as the cover returns to the "disarmed" position.

edit: hahah stupid me jumping the gun!: I didnt realise your post had links - your saftey cover is also a missile cover. Well just grab an LED, and a suitable resistor, and use that as your pilot light. You can also get pilot "LEDS" that come in bezels similar to the one you posted from ebay that works at low voltage, not on 110V ac.

Thank you, that was the goal, to have that as like a launch switch thing. I was thinking of a toggle switch too, it was another option. However, they hookup in a way that I couldn't place the missile cover over it see link So the "leads" are on the bottom, so it won't be able to sit somewhere and then have the cover. It's one of a few dilemmas I've hit now :thinking: The main one being WHERE does the switch go? Where do I solder the +/- leads? That is my FIRST step to overcome. After that I can pick switches and do all that fun stuff, but first I need to know where to hook up the dang thing....

Ebay have a lot of them listed as "safety toggle switch", with or without the switches ..... also with switches that includes led in the lever ..... the ones you linked are for PCB use.

That switch won't work... it has no threads to mount it and
therefore obviously you can't mount the "launch" cover....

I'm scrapping the launch cover, and while at Home Depot today I found a switch that will work, and picked up some heatshrink for $2 because I've been really needing some. I did some troubleshooting with the switch, making sure it works, and it does, plus the leads come out of the side so I can put it flat on something like I was hoping. Looks like all is going well so far. Now once I get parts and all that jazz next week, should be lasing a cheap 660nm.
