How well will it work for what?

For a 445nm it doesn't output enough voltage for the diode's full potential.
For any other diode, 1000mA is so much current it ill die instantly.

It looks like a 1000mA fixed linear driver with pulsed modes.

Depends on how much current you want to drive it with and the efficiency of your particular diode, but somewhere around 3.7~4.3V.
