Attach your test load to your driver output (the end with resistor goes to + and the other end goes to -)

Then you should put your multimeter to voltage. Try using the lowest possible value available.

Hello, so im still pretty new to the whole laser scene but i wanted to buy a test load. after looking around this itemHeavy Duty Test Load Kit for Laser Diode Driver 3000mA - eBay (item 260705531970 end time Mar-09-11 00:37:40 PST) caught my eye. I bought it and built it like in the picture. But, now what. im lost. What do i set my DMM to and where do the two wires coming out of my driver go?

attach your driver's + to the resistor's end on the top right of that picture, and the driver's - to the other side.

on most DMM we put it on the 2000m setting, which will read it up to 2000mV

Put your DMM leads on each side of the resistor and read the mV.
1mV = 1mA
