I was looking @ Li-ions thinking they would have better specs but it seems the Nimh discharge better and the Li-Ions have better capacity.

The name-brand 18650 cell manufacturers also make high current output cells,

but the capacity in mah is less.

Sanyo makes a #18650 cell with 15 AMP discharge capability,

for use in power tools, etc.

Cost is comparable to 2600 mah cells.

I have replaced some 9 VDC batteries with dual-cell lithium ion batteries that have 860mah.

The Voltage is the same as two 3.7V cells....
(Please note this is actually a 7.4V battery pack with a peak voltage of 8.4V)

So why are you looking for this form factor....

These babies can do 20C continuous and 40C surge!

32113 lithium ion battery cell

That is 88A continuous and 176A surge! They also have never been pushed to explode or even vent. They are built to power electric vehicles assembled in packs. Thats about as high drain of an application as you can get

As for the 9V those would be nice for Linear drivers. Good to know they are available.

The ones I linked too are also 8.4v, but on the same website they have one at 9.6v.

I like. It looks like it may fit in a Mag light or similar 2D host. I may have to pick one up.:eg:

Its pretty new I think. I havent seen them for sale anywhere but you could try. Otherwise their 26650 is ULTRA popular in EVs and RC planes.

The A123 26650s and 18650s are popular to the point that china has started pumping out some fakes so buyers beware....they are some of the best cells out there but you need to get the real ones.
