hi I'm new to this site and I just want to make my first laser diode Phr my problem is that my driver (Groove v2) when I tested it measures 1A while it is limited to 500 ma, I have my soldering jumper you've already had her?

How are you measuring the current? Your Groove2 is probably NOT putting out 1A.

Also, you will need to limit the PHR diode to no more than ~115mA if you want it to live for more than a few minutes (or less)

I know yet my multimeter tells me 1.3 A. More bizarrely I put an LED that is supposed to run on my 25 and it worked perfectly, the driver is hot when you try to take the intensity.
I feel it works but there remains the question of adjustment.

Yes :), Even with a diode 1w I arrive to vary with the driver but it remains to 1A

HOW are you measuring it? Be very specific.

What are you using as a test load? How are you hooking your DMM up to it?

How is everything being wired?

Also, pictures will go a long way with our being able to help you

I see no test load in that video.

In any event, since it is a Groove2, you can measure the current draw by placing your DMM in-line with the battery wire.

From the battery into the DMM. Out of the DMM into the driver. Set your DMM to current (mA)

I am not saying his driver is doing 1A but one of my groove 2 drivers got to 1A. It did became super hot in seconds and it did overheat in short order even with good heatsinking. It probably would damage the driver running it this high anyway. The groove 2 will go beyond its 500mA max but not if you don't sink it properly. Drlava said this is correct but 500mA is the limit where you start running into thermal issues. In my 2X26500 Ehgemus host I have 3XGroove 2 drivers putting out a combined 1.8A witch is 600mA per but they did require heatsinking. Most I have seen normally will max around 750mA.;)

Dtr is exactly his, the driver is hot when I tested only the (ma, a) so if I understand this is a rare case? when I am with my office or my test I test my luxeon and I turn the pot, the value does not change it still has steadily 1A. On the video I wanted to show you the luxeon that when I turn the pot radiation varies.

If you turn the pot and the current stays the same the driver is damaged and I would not suggest hooking it up to any diode.:beer:

The problem is that the brand new driver and I dared not even plug my PHR, if the solution was a problem reading when you make a circuit with the size (my, has the multimeter) is created a short circuit, so a component is damaged but the driver works ...
Normally limited to 25mA diode can not bear a load of 1a?
Well I did the test and its progress and even with the pot

This is the last time I am going to try to help. After this I will just label you "troll."

Your video shows the light getting brighter and dimmer when you turn the pot. I am also sure that it is NOT a 445nm diode you are using. Your driver is NOT "stuck" at 1A. You are measuring the current incorrectly.

Place your DMM BETWEEN the battery and the driver, NOT across the diode.

Positive battery terminal --> DMM --> Input side of driver

Connect a dummy load to the output side of the driver.

Set your DMM to mA or A and measure the current there.

I am doing exactly what you told me and I get 4.5 ma

with my load test I manage to indicate 750-990 ma

if you want I can make another video
