That's a lot of battery sizes. Like I wonder what the minor differences are.

How do you mean ? I can tell you that the first two numbers are the width of the battery in mm and the second two are the length of the battery in mm and the last number is just a zero for some reason ?

That's a lot of battery sizes. Like I wonder what the minor differences are.

The whole reason for all the different sizes is just that they aren't really intended directly for consumer use. Pretty much all of these cells are manufactured to be used in the production of a battery pack for a specific product.

Some manufacturers decide they need a slightly different size or performance, and you've got a new cell if they need them in volume.

The big one for EVs now is the 21700 mostly because it balances cell capacity and internal impedance nicely for that purpose. Not even all that different from a lot of other cells that have been around longer, but they're slightly better and expected in serious volume.

Huh, that's interesting. I believe all my Prius plug-in cells are 18650 but that was in 2012. Tesla is where it's at with electric vehicles with their insane performance. They know what they are doing.

Sorry if anyone else has posted any of that as I've been away for awhile and kind of jumping in without knowing what's going on.

Pete my man, glad to see you again, we were just about to send out the search party for you! ;)
Those are some cool links you've posted. There was a somewhat related thread a few weeks ago talking about the 20700 and 21700 cells, but as far as I know those are new links.

Seeing as you have posted in this thread, do you think you can find any of those old photos that you posted a few years ago showing all your batteries!

I think that will show what a real battery collection is. :D

the zero at the end means its a cylindrical battery, and a 1 means a square, not sure if any other shapes or numbers are used

What I find annoying is how 18650 and 26650 because of the vape market have the latest formulations, ( actually that's a good driving force ) but if I want to go to even 18500 to save a little space for a compact build, the trade off is way unbalanced.

There are hobby packs ( flat packs ) that are quite good for their size, maybe they would be good for some unique shape/size builds.

Does anyone have a good source for high drain hobby packs?
Also I wonder if anyone has a link to ultra caps at a fantastic deal?
I plan to do some searching but thought I would ask.

If you're looking for Li-Po RC type batteries...
HobbyKing and BangGood have quite a good selection.
