Just a tip for those of you who don't go the Chinese chip supplier route, try

Octopart - Electronic Parts, Electronic Components, Datasheets

to comparison shop prices at the major outlets like Digikey, Newark, Allied, Future Electronics, Mouser and more.

It can be a big help on some of the more expensive components like ics, op-amps, inductors and the like.

For example... OCTOPART SEARCH: TPS63020 CURRENT AVAILABILITY

Now everyone can resume making thinly-veiled, smart-Alec remarks with smiley faces attached to them in order to keep it civil!

That's a total off-road expedition now, it is'nt going to take us anywhere..
As much as i would agree with laserluke on his point of view , i think gillza is also right, removing the original contents is kind of a bad move..
Giving out schematics , and the whole thing about laserluke developing a new driver for lpf community reminds me of something like this..

Ok, just to clarify...
This miniaturized version is a fork of the original project for commercial purposes. This version will probably have some new feature.
In the original thread there are all the files i have posted 4 months ago for personal use. The original files has been downloaded tenths of times and are still available.
During this time i have received a lot of criticism and very few thanks and absolutely none donation (or simply availability to do that) for my work.
So i'm knowing very well those persons, like gillza or sinner, that are very supporters of the opensource (produced by others...) and are also very teachers of courtesy and education.
I'm not understanding the real reason of their behaviour now that the files are still available and that a commercial version is coming... is my driver damaging the interest of someone?

Luke,

Lets straighten some things out:

Please point me to one of my posts regarding your initial work where I have been criticizing anything of yours before you removed schematics?

In addition please point me to your posts asking for donations, I haven't seen any and you haven't asked.

As for courtesy and education you are not the one to talk about this as evident from your posts that you so conveniently remove and edit :).

Ben and RHD asked for donation for their work, and since I have purchased their drivers from cajunlasers and directly benefited from their work I have made several donations to their project.

So please, no need for this calumny...

Hey guys my question of whether or not this is stable enough for an S06J never got answered. Also, I would like to know if I have to change anything in the driver to change it from a boost to buck. I am asking because my host I am getting will have come with 2 barrels(thanks sinner :D), 1x18650 and 2x. Will it work if I just set the current, then put another battery in when i want to change it and it will automatically compensate?

gillza,
are you also guru of lying? I HAVE NOT REMOVED THE SCHEMATIC OF THE DRIVER.
I'm not used to ask for money exactly as you are not used to offer.
It is a question of education.
However this is my last post about this question because i'm realizing that you are trying to transform my thread in a garbage.
You will not obtain this result.
I will be glad to give answers about technical questions.

Sorry, i didn't make a test with this particular diode. Maybe anthot or foulmist could be helpful...

the thing about S06J is that at about 500mA the forward voltage of the diode goes beyond the 6V limit of the IC.

but you can still run it at a tad less current than 500mA. It will do fine, there are no spikes or big ripple currents but I have only tested the 17mm round board, I am not sure of the double sided one.

What's the huge problem honestly...

If people want to build one themselves the parts from digikey are like 15$ then add shipping which is different where you are...

If people think the price is sooo bad at 22$ just don't buy it & don't complain... Yes there is an FS thread on these I don't see any problem with that either.

Oh it was now that I realised the layout has been removed. :D

Luke, you should not have posted it in the first place I guess, if you were going to remove it later. I understand why some people are getting frustrated about this. Opensource is meant to be opensource indeed :D

Well, no offense to anyone here. Everyone should do whatever they want to do and that's their business. :D foulmist out

to AnthoT - great lightsaber on your avatar dude :p  :D
$22 is a fair price in my opinion

*Advertisement time*

Yes about that opensource thing - I did the testing on the first design and found that the zener is actually causing oscillations and must be removed. :D

No problem foulmist. :)
I have removed the pcb layout for three reasons:
- this is a commercial fork of the original opensource project
- there is a new corrected layout with a current monitor
- there is an agreement between anthot and me about this particular version. We are working together.
I'm really sorry for the frustrated persons. I apologize for that but the agreement was signed a day after the first post.
I will continue to support the original project.
Many thanks for the precious help you have offered to everyone during the testing

I feel that this driver does not suit my needs. Good luck with it though.

your point is valid but please be aware the original 17mm version was the announced open source version. This one & the 12.6mm version had never had eagle files, just gerbers... if you notice the original 17mm has everything. & if you are just wanting one but don't want to buy one, fine, I have no problem, It really doesn't bother me, just want to point out the components cost about 7$ less than retail & digikey has shipping charges. Plus its assembled & ready to go, whereas you would have to assemble your own not to mention buying the PCB's your own. if you like I can help you with the open source version by sending you PCB's for it for free.

Just because Luke made an open source driver doesn't make every one of his designs subject to that from now on. he did originally post the files but posting them in the first place was a privilege & no where it said anything about staying for ever...

Like Luke, this is my last reply to this subject. hopefully we can get back on track now

LOL thanks foulmist :D doubt anyone hates you no worries :D
