Alright, I got the quark AA^2 NW tactical to replace my lost fenix LD20. I sent the maratac in for a replacement, so in the mean time I'm stuck with that crappy inova X2. However, if hermes, the shipping god, is strong with USPS I'll get my new AA^2 tomorrow or friday and the maratac AAA replacement soon. Depending on what they find, I've heard the might give me the stainless version as a replacement. That would be cool.

^^Smells like fresh spam to me.... that said, wohoo!

I think mine has a slightly pink tint, and it looks just like sunlight. MUCH better color and 3-dimensional rendering than a normal cool white LED. That's one of the main reasons flashaholics stay away from cheap DX lights, it's because the LEDs are so purple. This is the warmest LED I've ever used.

I know, what's up with all these 1-posters talking about random cheap lights they just got?

So that's your Quark? Looks nice!
I'm not sure if the tactical was a good idea, but I love the warm white. It wasn't properly lubed from the factory, but I have some nyogel coming in the mail. Maybe it'll arrive today.

Can't you program the tactical to be just like the regular? They looked identical to me except the tactical was more "programmable".

No, the tactical is different because it can only be set to two modes at a time (tight or loose) and it has a forward clickie. It's a lot less annoying if you know which modes you want, but I'm not sure I like having to re-program it every time I want to use a different mode set. It's not hard to program, but it still takes 30 seconds or so. Right now I have it set to moonlight and low mode.

I have a nice small collection. This one is my favorite

Spy Tri-V!

The famed tri-v...
If I had the money, I would pick one up. I forget who made that particular light, but do you know if he's working on anything new?

For anyone that doesn't know, IIRC the tri-v was a limited run flashlight, with 3 separate LEDs for different purposes (no reflector, reflector, and lens focused LEDs). It is quite expensive, as it is custom made and is top of the line in many areas. It has an amazingly in-depth programming interface, with quite a few advanced features. Batteries go in the back (I think 2xcr123/16340?) and that little knob up front turns the light on and off, switches modes, and can also be used to program the light's various modes and perform calibration functions.

I see it sort of like the ST Dupont of flashlights.
