I'm guessing that it's controlled by the driver which you won't use ??? I'm sure someone will know for sure :)

*slaps forhead* thought you were going to use it as a Laser, don't mind me *goes back to sleep* :tired:

ok. where did you get it? post a link... (I guess you have something like this? DealExtreme: $12.69 UltraFire WF-501B Cree R2-WC 250-Lumen LED Flashlight Black (1*18650/2*CR123A))
250lm looks to some 3W LED (like cree R2), these need around 1A of current
you have 2 options here:
1. if you are into electronics: figure out which PCB trace is used for blanking the driver (leads from one of the IC's pins to some other component) and interrupt it/short it with GND, after that you have 1 mode light (this requires some experimentation)
2. if you're not really into electronics: buy some 1-mode 1000mA driver that fits your flashlight, like these:
DealExtreme: $1.99 18V 5W Cree Circuit Board for Flashlights (16.8mm*5.5mm)
DealExtreme: $2.19 1.5V~4.2V 3W Cree Circuit Board for Flashlights (16.7mm*5.6mm)
DealExtreme: $2.36 2.7V~6V 3W Cree Circuit Board for Flashlights (15mm*2.7mm)
and replace the old driver with the new (1 mode) driver
hope that helps :)

do you want flood or throw? also, the new cree XM-L leds have much better specs than P7 and need smaller reflectors to make them throw
