Reviewer's Overall Rating: ★★★★☆

efc71574-b1d8-4673-8b39-051934540e11_zpsdc8e585e.jpg

Summary:

Battery: Battery Pack - 7800mAh
Switch: Tailcap
Modes: High (75W) - Medium (55W) - Low (35W)
+ Secondary Mode group : Strobe and SoS

Bulb Type: 75W HID (Cool White ~5500K)
Reflector: Aluminum, Smooth
Lens: Glass
Tailstands: No
Price: $135.00 Shipped
Provided by: Banggood

Pros:

It's Bright!
Ease of use ( No fumbling around charging 3+ 18650/26650 batteries )
Rather lightweight for how massive it appears
Even distribution of weight, center of mass is around the first section of knurling behind the head
Shoulder strap if needed
Carry case to keep various parts organized
Additional Lampshade warms the tint to ~3500k if a warmer tint is desired
Threads are very smooth
Machining is very smooth
Handles the heat very well.
Simple to disassemble to upgrade/replace parts
Battery pack has a backup lightsource (3x 5mm led's in case the pack is depleted too much to be able to use the HID)
Extremely useful flood/spot adjustment (See beamshots!)

Cons:

Takes time to warm up to full brightness (Inherent with HID technology)
Some cheap components
Plastic rings that secure the attachments for the shoulder strap arrived cracked
Reflector has a few divots/bubbles in the reflective finish and actual aluminum is dented in my sample

Function:

H-M-L
1 Short press from Off: High
1 Short press from High: Medium
1 Short press from Medium: Low
1 Short press from Low: Off

Strobe - SoS
1 Long press from Off: Strobe
1 Short press from Strobe: SoS
1 Short press from SoS: Off

Contains all the goodies. :)

From Right to left, top to bottom: car charger, plug converter, additional lampshade, AC plug, wall charger, shoulder strap, 7800mAh battery pack, 75W HID Flashlight, Manual, Lens cleaning cloth.

Shoulder Strap attached. I'm 5'10, the light rests a few inches above my waist when the strap is on my shoulder.

Backside of the battery pack, the volt meter seems to be pretty accurate and consistent based on a 10-15 tests at various levels of charge. It takes a few seconds to determine the level of charge when depleted a fair amount.

IMG_0559_zpsd156cd3b.jpg

Front side of the battery pack. Leads on 'D' and '+' show the charge of the pack. On the bottom you can see the charging port. On the top right is the switch for the 3x 5mm led's.

Charge indicator in High (75W - Green), Medium (55W - Blue), Low (35W - Red)

When switched into the Flashy group the strobe/SoS utilize High for the flashes.

Here's the flashlight! :)

Breakdown:

Taking off the plastic rings that secure the shoulder strap hooks.

IMG_0561_zps44175f73.jpg

Here is the cracked part on one of the rings. One of the (few) weakpoints of this flashlight.

IMG_0577_zps8463df2d.jpg

Here are the tailcap threads. Very smooth despite the odd sized one near the O-ring. The O-ring is just slightly too big and provides a little more resistance than needed when threading the tailcap on.

IMG_0562_zpsbe390bbe.jpg

Down the tube. Some nicks on the battery tube.

IMG_0564_zpsbbdbcebb.jpg

Bezel and Reflector. The dent at the bottom of the reflector can be seen here (6 O'clock).

Reflector, a few of the defects in the finish can be seen here. The dent can also be seen here.

Conclusion:

This 75W HID flashlight is a very nice flashlight with some serious output. It's size may be off-putting for some, it was for me until I actually got it in my hands. The evenly distributed weight makes it very comfortable to carry. The focusing feature is incredibly useful, allowing this massive light to rapidly switch between super thrower and super flooder.

A star was deducted because of the cheap plastic rings and dented reflector.

Is the reflector dented, or was it notched to give the exposed return wire some space? You might consider it a design feature, if the reflective surface doesn't appear to be modified. You can easily tell by looking at the quality of the images reflected on the suspect area vs, another similar area.

Thanks for the pics and thoughts on this ubiquitous ebay light!

I believe you are correct about the dent. Though I would rather see the hole enlarged as to not require the dent. I would still maintain the deduction because of the overall quality of the reflector and the plastic rings for the shoulder strap mounts.

Yeah, nothing worse than busting up an expensive light because they used the 1 cent plastic ring instead of the 5c one.

Reminds me of when I first got my DRY. While showing it off the first day I had it, I dropped the tailcap on the carpet. Now, it's not high pile, it's that crappy stuff like they use in offices, with no pad, just concrete under it. Dented the tailcap, tailcap wouldn't screw back on, so I ad-lib'd my presentation to keep from looking like a fool. Bent it back using pliers, some paper to protect the threads, and a firm, steady push. It now threads, but still looks awful.

Random question, in the pics it looks like the bulb/ballast assy. is fairly modular in that it is a single piece. Does this sound accurate, or did the bulb look like it may have been removable?

The actual bulb seemed to be glued in on mine. You can see the yellow glob under the bulb in a few pictures.

There are screws on both caps of the assembly, but I couldn't get them to budge.

When I looked up replacement parts I was able to find a few sources for both the bulb & ballast assembly, and the battery pack. I couldn't find this exact bulb separate from the ballast.

How does the arc tube compare in size with, say, a standard 35W automotive HID lamp?

I'm not certain, but based on pictures 35W automotive HID look a bit larger. I don't have any HIDs in my cars; Do you happen to have some measurements?

Maybe if you could provide a picture of the bulb from the side, next to a ruler? Generally, the arc gap on a 35W automotive D2S is ~4.2mm, whereas a bulb designed for 50W like the "Philips Fatboy" and dl50 740 have a larger capsule and beefier walls.

Sure, I'll take some pics later tonight when I get home.

You can see the bulb base glued in there.
The top cap is also glued on. I don't think they want you tearing this apart.

Wow, thanks for the pic! Looks like a fairly standard generic capsule to me, couldn't tell you whether it is a 35W burner or one meant for higher wattages, but folks have been overdriving 35W bulbs for a while now. I will say I don't know how much of an issue this may be because of all the glue, but the return wire is usually farther out than that. Have fun with your light, it looks awesome :)

One of my favorite parts of HIDs is watching them cool down. The UV quartz has a blue afterglow, while the capsule itself glows red hot

That turned out very cool djQUAN!

I was thinking to get a pic of it installed and cooling down in the flashlight, but I think your setup may be better.

Great comparison pics!

There is one seller on eBay offering these for $35AU atm so I could imagine the quality of that one.

Thanks for the review

If that is the same light as this then I would avoid that listing and seller.

There is a very common scam on ebay where a seller will 'cash in their rep'. If you look at their previous sold listings you will likely see a lot of very inexpensive beads or whatever, and then all of a sudden they have a $100 light listed at $30, and they have quite a few available. A few weeks later their account is banned and the negative feedback of people who got rocks in the mail instead of a flashlight starts pouring in.

Lowest legit price I've seen is around $80, but I haven't been looking for a while.

Here it is... Flashlight 2X 8700mAh Battery 4X Lampshade ON Sale 85W 8500LUMEN HID Xenon Torch | eBay

*EDIT: I also just noticed that out of the 35 positive feedback that he's received, there isn't one about the flashlight.
