Trying to find a headlight (or headlamp), an LED light that mounts on the user's forehead with an elastic strap. Want to retro fit a laser in one that would emit a strong beam sis or seven feet and be visible in strong sunlight. Units are
readily available with LED lights, both white and red, but not with laser. Any ideas?

You would use a similar process to how people modify flashlights to lasers; gut the headlight, remove the flashlight components and have a machinist make a heat sink for you.

i did this once with a 445nm laser in a chinese headlamp, very dangerous, if you look at anything which is reflective the beam can reflect back to the source which is very close to your eyes.

This would be a perfectly effective way to demonstrate retroflectors!

This is exactly the kind of laser abuse that is going to destroy the hobby.

Even if there were lasers powerful enough to produce a visible beam 6-7 feet in strong sunlight that would fit in a headlamp, this is just an awful idea that is going to injure somebody, or at least scald your forehead.

A laser that strong attached to someone's head... Don't think it'll work out too well.

Bad idea. If its visible on sunlight, we assume you want a high power laser.

Have people forgotten that >500mW (ol' Class IV) pose a fire hazard?

What a 3W 445 would do to a house curtains or table cloths ?

By the way that thread recalled me that..:
