I'm about to buy a house and it has recessed flood lights. I'm wanting to replace the incandescent bulbs with LED ones. I have looked at some in a few stores. Dimmable ones would be nice. Is there any particular brand I should look for? Anybody know of a website that provides good/realistic reviews?

Something equivelant to a ~60w incandescent would be nice.

Thanks. Those looks really nice. I might get one to try/test before buy a bunch of them. I would need 6 which is a large chunk of change.

I've been swapping over to CFLs in normal fixtures. Those type of bulbs don't work very well in recessed fixtures though. I thought if I'm going to buy new bulbs, I'll splurge on some LEDs to save even more energy. Plus they don't contain mercury.

LEDs perform even more poorly in recessed fixtures. CFLs themselves (not the electronic ballasts as much) are designed to run pretty hot, but LEDs are not.

I ended up finding some I like. I put a Sylvania above the shower I use all of the time. It is a cool white and puts out 770lm if I remember right. It is rated for damp locations so it should be fine.

I bought one Cree LR6 3500k to see how it looked in the kitchen. I am more than satisfied with it. Now I just need to buy 5 more. The CFLs have been kicking the bucket pretty quick. I think I had to replace all of them at least once already.

The next fixture is the one over the dining table. I found the bulbs I want but can't find a seller.

Top Energy Saving System Corp.

These have almost the exact same specs. The bulbs would be visible in the fixture though.

I'd like to find something soon so I can get rid of the mishmash I have in there right now.
