Well, I guess the title says it all. I am going away to a school camp for nine weeks and I want to buy a good powerful torch that can put everyone elses to shame :)
Preferably I want to spend under thirty dollars, I want a metal body and I would like water proofing. This one from ebay seems good (probably low quality but fairly high power), any suggestions will be much appreiciated as I know a lot less about torches and non coherant radiation than I do about lasers.

I have narrowed my choice down to one of these three.
$32.22 - Aurora AK-P7-4 HA-III SSC P7-C 2-Mode 900-Lumen LED Flashlight (1*18650) - SSC Flashlights
$20.10 - UltraFire WF-502B XM-LT6 5-Mode 510-Lumen Memory White LED Flashlight with Clip (1*18650) - Ultrafire Lights
$20.15 - UltraFire WF-501B SSC-P7-CSXO 3-Mode 900-Lumen Memory LED Flashlight with Strap (1*18650/1*17670) - Ultrafire Lights
And plan to open a thread in the poles section to see what others think.
Recommendations are still appreiciated as I havent ordered anything yet;)
They all run on 18650s of which I already have some for my lasers.

Go for a good XM-L based light. It will outthrow a P7, if it's in a decent reflector, and still provide usable spill.

Eye protection would kind of defeat the purpose of the torch, so no, you don't need it. You will have a nice image of the torch in your eye for a while if you shine it in your face though, but you're safe unless you stick your eye right up the lens.

Try the BUD K catalogue at budk.com, & look for the GUIDE GEAR FLASHLIGHT. It has 3 settings available at the touch of the tail mounted, rubber push-button; LOW, HIGH, &
STROBE. It runs off of a single CR 123 or RCR 123 battery, & has O-Rings for water resistance. IIRC, it was ~$25.00. Also has a pocket clip, & is only ~3" long. It's an excellent light, VERY bright, & the STROBE function is a great signal if you get lost at night. rob

I am glad the f7 key is okay, I was worried there for a minute ;).
I should be ordering tonight. It will be an Xm-l. So all Xm-ls are approximately the same power or is the only difference the host?
