I showed this article to my dad, it's very interesting. It apparently hits 100% then uses surrounding heat energy as well, and begins to cool off. Definitely WORTH THE READ
Sounds neat, but i highly doubt the actual diode is anywhere near a simple as that diode they have pictured in the article, i would much rather see what it actaully looks like
We could use our 445nm diodes as the heat source:evil:Interesting indeed - somewhat similar to heating something with a heat pump and achieving >100% yield if you compare output to electrical input only.
If something like this ever reaches practical size, you would have to provide a coldsink for continous operation... i'd be quite stunned if i had a flashlight or laser pointer that needed to be switched off because it froze instead of overheated some day
