Checked it on google maps and the water tower is .265 miles away! :D

I think it will go further but even standing on my roof I couldnt find anything further to shine at :can:

Really easy project for anyone with basic soldering and electrical skills.

Nobody?

Build a flashlight that can light up a water tower a quarter of a mile away for under $30 and not one comment? This place has sure died down since back in the day.

Hey that looks amazing. Point it in the sky at a foggy day and it will look like a UFO beam. So the complete build costed 30$!
Do you maybe have the link for all parts?

I also just finished a HID conversion. But this time, I used a work light that used to have a very hot halogen lamp and converted it to HID. No beamshots though since this is a floodlight :na:

Nice

Every time I'm at the auto store or wallyworld, I check to see if the big body spotlights are on sale. They never are. Tried to get the Autozone guy to gimme the one there at cost, since the bulb was all clouded over. Nope. Still, nice way to throw a bunch of light downrange.

Nice build! where did you find the thor for $12.

It was at academy sports. Just keep your eye out and you will find some spotlight on close out somewhere. The light doesnt matter you just want the large reflector. Also any light with an internal battery will have plenty of room for the ballast. If it doesnt have a battery or room just mount it outside on the housing ;)

The whole project took less than 30 minutes to put together. Just make sure you get the same type of bulb that the flashlight originally had. Mine had an H3 halogen so I ordered an H3 HID kit. Most spotlights will be H3s.

I can put up more pictures of the insides if anyone is interested.

*****edit

Looks like they have it online for only a few dollars more
