WE should know by wed, assuming DTR has no life :)

You are assuming they will ship tomorrow and it will arrive by Wednesday. I plan on calling them in the morning to see when they will ship.

DTR I might get one... let me think about it a few days more ok?

I will add you to the list. I do plan on closing the buy in list the day I get the unit before I dig into it.

Here is the current list. LINK

You know what DTR... Definitely count me in!
Let's see if these diodes are really better or not!

Why now? Crapio cares because of the huge backlash from the Arctic. There was epic amount of bad press. So much even George Lucas got involved. Crapio obviously knew their diodes were used in the Arctic, and want to stop all laser involvement.

You guys are funny. I have high respect for both you Steve and Badger, but you're trying to tell us what we should, and should not call a company? LMAO. Give me a break men. Its kind of hypercritical that its OK to disembowel their projector, but cant call them Crapio. The whole point is not to use their name. You cares what we call them? LOL

Added.

DTR, add me to the list too! I wouldn't be able to pay until Friday.

Part of the reason I will be closing the buy before I dig in is that we don't know what we are getting. It is a risk/reward scenario. If you know the outcome there would be no risk and no reason for a reward.;)

Some of you seem upset with the company...
The defamation is not going to make it any easier to get our greedy hands on these diodes.

How can you blame Casio for doing what they are doing?
Do they owe us something? Did we somehow not see this coming?
We've been asking for a legal smack-down for a while. Don't let this be the last straw.

Enjoy it while it lasts.

Edit: @DTR and others-
Personally, I don't have high hopes for "better" diodes. I don't know if you've read my other posts in this thread, but the improvements in the 150 are likely achieved through other means:
A. Improve optical efficiency
B. Improve the phosphor for better color gamut
C. Add a couple more diodes
D. Any/All of the above

I believe this is probably true as well. But we wont know for sure what is in this thing until somebody gets one and cracks it open.

I also have seen a some 100mW+ swings in the 140 diodes. It seems that we are pretty confident the 140 are binned higher than the 130. There is also a chance that these are binned higher and consist of some of the didoes that have the higher efficiency which would be nice.;)

I sure hope they are brighter. But even if they are the same as the 140s I could use a few more for my stash

Who will be the first to power one of these LD's up?

It's almost worth declaring the event as a holiday. Will it be a new wavelength? oooo. Like waiting for Santa to arrive...

Why do they even care what we do with their product after we buy it? How the hell are they possibly responsible? I mean if you buy a flashlight and smash someones head in with it is the victim going to sue Maglight? FFS Crapio STFU and be glad anyone is buying your stuff you dumb ass mofos.

C@sio could be found to be negligent in not putting safeguards to prevent people from obtaining dangerous parts. These are not flashlight, these are Class 4 laser diodes. It's like someone building a projector that contains an explosive or radioactive part that could be used for dangerous purposes. Sure, "common sense" dictates that the original manufacturer should not be responsible for how their machine is used outside its original intention, but in today's lawsuit-happy world, the fact that someone can power up their projector and blast 24W of laser light with virtually no effort would easily support the case that C@sio did not at least make it difficult for these diodes to be removed and used for alternative purposes.

C@sio is covering their butt; don't blame them for that. The better their butt is covered, the greater chance that these kinds of products will stay available. Also don't be so arrogant to believe that C@sio cares about sales or should feel "glad" to sell to laser enthusiasts. Projector-purchasing, part-scavenging laser enthusiasts represent an insignificant market segment. So have a little appreciation for the fact that you have the privilege of purchasing a formerly cheap $500 laser diode for one tenth the price because C@sio invested money to make it happen.

It's listed on their website now.

FWIW, they claim it uses the same amount of power as the 130 and 140 models.
