Would this kill a diode?

Can you safely shine a 445 laser through a cheap monocular without enough light reflecting back into the diode to kill it? What type of AR coating would it need to have? I bought this Amazon.com: Brunton Echo 7x18 Pocket Scope: Sports & Outdoors for my 532 pens and it made an awesome beam expander. It seemed to be absorbing a good amount of light, so I removed the prism. This made the focal length almost double, so I rigged up some PVC fittings to hold it all together at the right distance. Just trying to beat that dang 2 mRad divergence. :(

If some of the lasers power is directed back into the diode, yes it could damage it.

I actually have a spare set of those optics, if you want them right away... just to let you know.

DPSS is at far less risk as are diodes that are not over-driven.

I might have to get those from you! Does anyone machine something to hold the lenses? A little tube that you could mount onto the front of some of the popular hosts would be awesome. I don't have a 445 yet, but I am getting ready to build or buy one. How have people been incorporating these lenses into their lasers?

EDIT: What would be REALLY awesome is an EZ focusing cylinder that had the corrective optics installed that would slide onto the Aixiz lens housing. Man I wish I had access to a machine shop. Someone could make a killing selling that... hint hint :)

I successfully used binocular as beam expander, but it only worked with 532 and 650nm. when I shone my PHR through it, I got just few mw's on output. I think the lenses have some anti-UV coating to prevent the eye damage from UV light. so I don't know if this will work
also, beware of cheap binoculars that use plastic lenses (if there are any)... high power 445 could maybe melt it

This wouldn't work, would it... I mean the fast axis has to be aligned with the corrective optics, right? So the corrective optics don't need to rotate with the collimation lens.
