A 445 laser held together with hot glue and electrical tape.

The enclosure is temporary, and the laser sports focusable output, a key switch and a seven second on delay thanks to the flexmod P3. reason for hot glue and tape is I want to be able to pull it apart and put it into a full metal enclosure later. so I can yank out the parts easily enough and transfer them across.

Power source is a 7.2 volt remote controlled helicopter reciever pack battery, spare from my nitro heli days.

Yes its ugly, but only a temporary box. :)

How did you get the delay with the driver?

the flexmod p3 comes that way as standard - you can bypass it, but I like to keep it just incase I need to touch up my aim :)

Thanks for the info....I didn't realize they were set up that way.

Yup the laws of both our fine countries make no sense! I can buy a Semi-Automatic shotgun, but not a laser over 5mW!

I assume like us you can have a lab style laser, such as a 5 watt SP 168 argon, but are limited to having a 5mw (or in our case, <1mw) laser pointer

Anything >5 mw needs a aperture shutter, delay and keyed switch, But it can be handheld. I think we are allowed to build any laser, but it cannot be sold without the safety features. This is as far as I understand it, theres most likely something I've missed.
