@ARG: not really. a 3.5W diode costs about 450$ (im not sure, but something like that) and you can get one of these from DTR. these you can pump to 5W and if you use two of the you have 10W :p theoretically it would be possible, but practically i think the heatsink will be too big for handheld o:

120 Euro is only $166, definitely not possible if the diodes are $450 each ;)

yep, thats true :'D

you can try it with 10 or 5 2W diodes or something like this x)

Eh, the last dual diode laser I made a reached 5W with two diodes, and that was way too powerful for my taste.
At what point does the amount of power in a handheld just become too much?

It's obviously not 10W. At best it's probably around 600mW-1.2W max depending on efficiency and lens used. Let go of the dream, lol.

If it's not at least $1,000 you know it's a fake :p

Yeah seriously, 10W is not gonna be a comfortable price or build. At least not until the future of batteries and diodes advances... Even then, as fun as it would be to burn through trees, I don't think the government would allow them...

You'll can not burn through trees, just set them on fire, lol.

Better buy a few Kg of Magnesium.;)
