Sorry this has to be my first post..

I recieved my Dragonlaser spartan today,on fitting the batteries(Tenergy 750mAh 3.0v)the laser worked for around 45 seconds then went off,on removing the batteries, there was a burning smell coming from inside..i left it for a while then replaced batteries and it came back on but not with the same amount of power...Could i have damaged it or do you think it was faulty from factory?....

Thanks Alan...

My Spartan 1W was DOA. Never worked at all. I correctly put in the batteries negative end first and positive end towards the tailcap. No beam at all.

I returned the laser, paying for my own postage. Dragonlasers refunded me only the price of the laser, not the $35 that they charged for their shipping, which took 3 weeks.

I have heard really good things about Dragonlasers and that's the reason I bought from them. Now I'm out $50 from shipping costs and without a working laser from them.

NEVER AGAIN WILL I BUY FROM DRAGONLASERS.

I'm happy with my 445nm purchase from yobresal and 2 builds from DTR.

Same thing happened to my Spartan, except the batteries became "loose" inside and would cause a lack of connection without some kind of conductive material placed in between the batteries the length of the batteries inside the housing. The laser got weak for me as well, but then it returned to normal strength. After having it for about a month now, i've noticed it "flashing" for about 30+ seconds before it goes into the regular "fast flash" mode. It is also much weaker and will not burn through most paper anymore... I'm going to have to send it back.

My Spartan work fine. But yes, I think it is better to go for DIY. The quality is comparable, and in fact better, it is more highly powered than commercial build. I am currently getting one DIY right now.
