Yep! :san:

I may wait until you get yours though! Do you have any similarly powered lasers to compare it? Wish LPM's weren't as expensive as they are...

One of my professor-friends has a 1W 445nm, so I know the capabilities and around what they can do. I personally only have a 275mW greenie that peaks around 315, so comparing it to the new blue one I'll be getting won't make for an excellent review. I'll probably just compare beams and points between the two. I would love a Laserbee 2, if only I had an ample amount of cash to dump into all my hobbies at once... :undecided:

Take a moment to relise what you just said. "waterproof while focusing". What does focusing do? Moves the lens forward and back. What happens when it goes back? Pushes air out. Forward? Sucks air in.

I asked them if I could focus my red laser under water. No. It's a thread, if you do, it will either create suction or pressure. They said focusing it under water will risk damaging the laser. I did a little focusing befor hand, luckily nothing happend. Else I have used it at the bottom of a pool (9ft) and in a hottub at 98F
Take a moment to realize that you appear to be missing the point of my post. I was commenting about the build quality of Rayfoss lasers. :undecided: I have a few lasers (this being one of them) that can be focused while submerged. :na:
Yes focusing brings the lens toward/away from the diode, but do you realize how small a volume of air that is, and how much pressure you need to get around the o-rings in the Rayfoss (or other) waterproof hosts? Significantly more pressure is needed than is generated by moving the lens in or out 1-2mm. The pressure simply builds slightly within the head of the host, the air does not escape. :shhh:
I can provide a video (this weekend) of me focusing a laser while it is underwater if you like.

I was considering buying that red laser, myself. The host is actually pretty sweet, and the price is awesome. The only issues I had with my Rayfoss greenie were a slightly off-center beam (crystal) and some thread alignment issues on the cap, which I corrected with some good-old American engineering; pushing harder. :shhh:

As for the question of this laser being focusable, the website says it is... And it's the same new host that they have other lasers in, all of which say "focusable". I'm inclined to believe you can focus this laser. I'm placing my order on the 16th (when I get paid) and will provide a review with lots of pictures upon receipt. Faona may send me a higher-end laser, because I've done a lot of business with them and she's provided me with excellent service so far, and I feel much more comfortable buying from Rayfoss than from Wicked. I'll have to send it to an LPF member with a Laserbee after I do my review of it. The Spartan looks like it's quality, but I've been waiting from something else. And here it is. =]
I trust in Rayfoss and Faona.

Hello all. I am new here. I already visited the welcome page. I ordered the 1W 445nm laser from Rayfoss. I did not get the waterproof lens. Faona said they changed hosts due to poor heat dissipation. I have dealt with Rayfoss before and they are very easy to work with. My laser should be in this week sometime because I got the express shipping. If noone has one by the time I get mine I can put up pics and video. I have never written a review so I don't know how that part will turn out. I had a 200mw 532nm to compare it to but had to send back for a burned diode. All i have left are 2 5mw penlights. A 405nm and a 660nm. That won't make for a good comparison. The website shows the 1W 445 compared to a 200mw red and a 300mw green.laser.jpg

I just asked Faona some questions, and I thought this might be important:

Q: Is the laser any less powerful when using the 18650 battery instead of the two 16340s, because of the lower voltage?

A: Yes.If you use 18650 battery the power output of the torch is around 300mw.

That is a big loss of power! 1W to 300mW?

Yes, that makes sense.

You're going from a total of 7.2V peak (2x3.6V) to 4.2V peak voltage. So there would be a noticable effect going between two CR123As and an 18650.

I'm surprised the loss of power isn't even greater.

If the driver could only decrease the voltage (which is common in fact), it would be exactly like this. For 1W you need about 4.5V on the diode. 4.2 could be about 300mW. Some drivers can increase the voltage when needed, but this laser might not have such driver.

hello

I sold my laser 200mw FLX rayfoss to buy the 1W 445nm Blue.

but I am beginning to doubt the real power of this laser you it's someone in possession to give me his opinion.

Thank you

As for power, no one knows .. but it is totally different host, that's for sure.

I ordered the 1W 445nm laser on Sept 18. They said they will ship it out Monday Sept 20 with test specs and email confirmation. "We plan to ship the laser out on the coming monday. Then contact with you accordingly." Then I got this email on Sept 22 "We will do the shipping on 23-Sep. Sorry I forgot in last email from 20-Sep to 22-Sep is our public holiday of middle-autumn festival. Post agents are not on duty as normal. Will be back with tracking information later tomorrow." I have sent emails and no one is responding. The thing that makes me mad is the fact that I paid $25 usd for the express UPS shipping a week ago and I don't know if my laser has even shipped yet.:banghead:

I received a note on my door today so I will have mine tomorrow. I really wish I had a meter. I opted for the non-waterproof version so my "dot" is not distorted.
CR123A's are on charge =)

The one rated true 1W that says current under 1500mA? Or the one that's under 600mA?

According to their Specificatoins its <1200mA (and yes that is how rayfoss spelled specifications on its site lol)

Im going to try and make a quick review before I go out tonight.
