I've been p.o'd by the deplorable quality lasers I've bought from Amazon back when they were allowed to sell powers over 5mw. I've tried to build my own 404nm, but that was just a fail. Now I've set my sights on professionalism. I'm just about to make a purchase from Dragon Lasers. Either the 400mw or the 1W 445nm Spartan laser.
My problem is that I want to have the power of the sun in the palm of my hand, but I really don't want to go blind just by turning the thing on while I'm in the same room without glasses.

Q: Really, what are the burning differences between .4 and 1W, and would I really go blind just by looking at the 1W dot across the room?

The 1W will burn A LOT quicker. For burning, the 405nm will be better at lower power.

Yes, the 1W will do damage, very quickly. I can point my 1.3W up at the ceiling and look on the ground and its still way too strong to take your glasses off for even a second. Thats not even looking at the dot. If you want a burning laser that you can get away with taking your glasses off stick to 230mW or lower. With that you can get away with shining it across you room and if you see the dot it wont blind you(I must say that if it catches a reflection of something shiny it can still blind you). You still need to have goggles. I still wouldnt suggest looking directly at a dot even at that low of power.

:) Thank you very much for your input. I'd been looking for this info all over the net, and just needed to ask.
