the shorter duty cycle and longer cool off period will translate into longer laser life but like Polonium said, anything that is homemade is hard to tell the exact life of.

Got it. I know where to get heatsinks, but where do I get the adhesive? Preferably under 7$...

Edit: found some, which is better, #1 or #2

#1 : http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Thermal...967?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item19d2ee40ff

#2 : http://www.ebay.com/itm/Arctic-Silv...hermal_Compounds_Supplies&hash=item460d954979

heatsink from cajun laser, got it. Also, if i need to make one of their heatsinks smaller, how do i cut it? or is it possible?

I know #2 is better, but would #1 work for my purposes?

EDIT: WOOP. 12:08 PM wed. march 31. All parts ordered (except for thermal adhesive) SOOO EXCITED! Takes 2 weeks for host to get here tho :(

Edit: last questions. I Pre-ordered the moghasm Cu c6 heatsink. If maghasm gets them in on the 5th, i should get the heatsink when? Same with the driver.

EDIT: CRAP!!! forgot to specify the power on my moghasm driver. I sent them an email, do you guys think they will read it and send me the driver with the correct power???

you may have to file down the driver heat sink but yes everything will work. your making a custom laser, modification will be needed as it comes up.

my question is he solders the driver to the retainer ring. is there any part of the driver that needs to be soldered to it or can you just put a blob of solder anywhere on the side of the ring?

i solder the side of the ground ring to the pill with a blob it goes anywhere really just make it as neat as possible and try not to overheat anything for too long

Yes correct, you only need to solder the outer ring of the driver to the pill.

^^ yeah i was going to say, he hasnt found a Cu heat sink in his price range because he hasnt looked. there are PLENTY of Cu heat sinks for right around $10 i got my mohgasm Cu heat sink for $6 in his GB and regular price is $9. if you skip out on upgrading your heat sink then you can plan on owning an operable laser for about 1 month.....in the end the choice is ALWAYS yours but we are here to help you build the best laser possible

Are you really implying that an M140 at 1.5A will only last one month in a C6 aluminum heatsink?
