Did New Power test went to 4.7A got 6.5W and at 4.2A It came a live I got 6.3W That is 500ma under max power drop
I think 4.2A could be the safe if you keep run time down to 30sec. 60max for long life and have one of my good copper heat sinks that touch the back of the diode is a must see video new 445nm diode hits 6.5W at max power test - YouTube

Awesome results! I saw the video, and my small piece of advice would be to use the fine adjustment nob to control the current. When you use the coarse adj. it will be much more sensitive and the current can jump around in 100ma increments. Seems these diodes will be able to handle 6w all day long. Thanks for the test
these results deserve their own thread!

Sounds good to me Rick I think we need a little more testing to determine what the safe range for the current is for these diodes. I'm guessing it'll be somewhere around 3.8-4.0a possibly? I also want to know what DTR and ARG come up with as well, but they haven't tested the diodes yet.

I have the driver working good at around 4.10A making 6W+ it gets hot fast at 4.10Amps and put off a lot of heat. I hope I can get a 60sec run time before it shuts down . I have it on the heat sink . will make video soon of the new diode in a handheld host .It take 3 -3.7v to make full power. It could be a new world record for the most power from a visible handheld laser using( one diode.)

Hot damn that looks powerful. A part of me wonders if these will ever come down in price. Also, have we tried the 3 element lens for these? Or will it blow the pants off the multi element lens?

These diodes will definitely come down in price MUCH quicker than the 9mm 520. It's not like Nichia will continue to make the old 9mm NDB7875 when these new diodes have a higher power and efficiency. I think we will find these diodes in new projectors soon.

Just saw the LPM video, and what can I say except another awesome laser from Trent Engineering I shouldn't be surprised but I still am. Congratulations on being the first to make a 6w handheld with the new 9mm diode. I'd bet the reason for the power drop is that driver overheating, but it still does the job. Good work!

6W with a 3 element lens? That absolutely fantastic! TBH it's still fantastic if that's with the G lens
