tested the 9mm 445nm diode to the max /the max I would push a $650 diode to. I got the one I tested to go 5.33W at 3.4A took power off at 3.4A so I would not hurt diode . At 3.16Amps got 5w. I think that would be safe to run the new diode in my heat sink.
see video LPM test max on new 445nm diode 5.33w - YouTube
will make a night video later

Visually, does it appear to be a similar wavelength to the 9mm's?

As bad as the 638nm mits or a little better?

Not as bad! I had to turn it and look hard to tell ,with a 9mm lens .If you a 3 element lens you could not tell. the 4.6W hit 3.2W with a 3element lens a tested it on .I have a bigger lens from a m140 diode will do some testing to see if all the power is make out of the glass ,good thing my lens holders are bigger then most. that is why I called it the T1 lens the hole is bigger.
the m140 has a 1 piece glass lens .I will test it and see if I get more power .

How about trying a 2-element lens like the 1/2 threaded type that O-Like use to make or the full thread version that you were selling? I bet you will get about 4 watts at 3 Amps with a decent beam profile to boot.

5 watts, holy crap- props to you for doing the testing, Rick. Will be interesting to see if these will be stuck in projectors soon...

I made a prediction that they might be able to hit 6w safely, seems I was wrong. a safe 5.15w @ 3.25 amps is very impressive. done with passive cooling nonetheless. Good job on being the first to test the diodes

I stoped the power as fast as I saw it not going up fast ,that is why I would have like to had the money to go up higher and see were it blow at and at $650 each I can not do that . I know the red 5w slowed down make power but keep going up!

With what lens did it hit 5.15W at?

I used the 9mm glass with my T1 lens holder
I used the small lens holder and got 200mw less and that was after I cleaning the lens .It could be one pice of lens is better but I get this happing over and over in the small lens holde .
I think my LPM picks up the splater better then some LPM
I could do a video of it but I have done one before. you would have to see it for your self or some would not believe it as before .

PS. It was could today in shop got 4.79W at 57f at 2.79A in gray laser host

I think you've definitely earned our trust here by now. You don't seem to put much effort into punctuation or proofreading your posts sometimes, but that's just kinda your thing. You testing out these new diodes is very much appreciated.
