That would be dangerous in the wrong hands for sure, but not much moreso than a 2w 445 for the same price. I don't think most of the wrong people would bother spending that much on such a laser thankfully.

True, I guess if you are going to blind yourself, whats the difference whether its via 5 watts or 2 watts- both will get the job done quick :/

Yep. Goggles not optional :p

Side note: I have really been trying to guess at what the safe high end output of these diodes will be for a long life. Normal 9mm 445 get around 2.9w @ 2.25a, which is around an 80% increase over its typical operating output. If we manage to get 6w out of these diodes, that will be about a 70% increase, which I think *should* be reasonable for a decent operating life. Some have suggested 7w could be possible, but that would really be pushing it imo with operating life in mind. Gonna be interesting to see how the diodes handle the extra heat, maybe they won't be able to handle 5w, who knows. I'm more excited to see how these diodes compare to the current 9mm rather than the new 520nm performance :p

Has anyone seen these for cheaper? I know the Nichia 1W 520nm is being sold in different places. I am considering getting one to put in a Mrcrouse V12 host.

tested the 9mm 445nm diode to the max /the max I would push a $650 diode to. I got the one I tested to go 5.33W at 3.4A took power off at 3.4A so I would not hurt diode . At 3.16Amps got 5w. I think that would be safe to run the new diode in my heat sink.

will make a night video later

if you have a ? email me or call for help

the beam bar shape is 2 time the size of the old 9mm

that's too bad, but the raw power is what interests me. if I want a clean blue beam I'll get a single mode osram laser. 5W, WOW.
