I will expand on that in saying has anyone gone out hunting with there laser/and gun when it was less than +3C and did you have any problems? No different than a fridge.. The humidity issue wont come out untill you warm it up and the air condenses If there is enough moisture in the air it will turn into raindrops on your laser.

What you are complete forget is Those Rain Drops Will Leave Residue on your optics Ruining it. That is What the Problem is. Its Like Dropping water on your lens and letting it dry up.

The Problem is the Different temp. Going from Super Cold to Room Temp Really Fast your almost Guaranteed to get some Condensation on your lens, window.

If that Happens The Optics will need cleaning from the residue the water leaves on your lens when it goes away.

If you dont clean it you will see fuzziness around the dot and a HUGE power Loss.

This is the Main Problem with TEC cooling. IF your Laser unit is not sealed up and all humidity is removed you will ruin your optics every time you turn the unit off or if the unit gets to cold.

The Electronic part is not the Issue. That is Fine. But the Diodes window and Optic is what will be effected.

Trust me.

If you want to Experiment the Take a Laser module and screw a lens on it.

Tec cool it at 0C for 3-5 minutes. Shut the TEC off but leave the laser on. In a Matter of Seconds you will see it actual happening to your optics.

I will do a Demonstration in a little. Let me set up.

but I didnt get any condensation.. I can see it on my popsicle that was frosen not on my beer in the fridge. And again I am willing to risk it.. and I am the weener now... I allway's win...

OK ya want the real scoop! These are awesome diodes! I cant kill it at 6V I am trying!

but at 29C ambient you would be hard pressed to get 2.6W out of one.

That's my story I'm sticking to it.. and it is the truth. I can get the high W out if I cool the diode. I dont have a nice 22c here in the non air conditioned place. I still got the output I wanted and I didnt kill anything yet.. God and peeps are recomending tec! My fridge works better.

I dont recomend the fridge but then again I dont recomend water cooling a computer either but I still do it...

ok Looks like I had fun yesterday..

I want to say a couple things.

1. - Dont atempt this at home we are all pro's right.. HAHA

2. I was really trying to kill this diode (because I missed out on the info) and it won so far. If you want to keep your 9mm diode DONT try this.

So Unless you are willing to part with it I would keep it sane! I just couldnt help myself after I saw 3W readings Blew me away!

LOL.:p

Alot put there lasers in the freezer to get higher readings. Its a Quick Way to get your laser cold.

Most of the Time people only leave it in for a Short Period of time and does not cause a Problem for the Optics because it was not left in there long enough.

However if you Miss Judge the amount of time you leave it in which can be just a few seconds difference or your air condition are not perfect you will get condensation on the lens and diode window.

That is the problem that i see why its not a good idea to use the freezer and iam Sure is similar as to What DTR was saying.

Just trying to help friend.:)

These sucker are strong. If you are Trying to kill it you better get out the chainsaw as these can take a beating.

What was the Highest Currant you took it.??

Its Pretty Crazy to see 3W.:D Its Fing Bright as Hell.LOL

Now get a TEC setup in that Handheld of yours so you can Have it stay at 3W+ for a Longer period rather then drop like a stone from warming up out of the freezer.:)

Have you took it outside yet.?:scared:

I took mine Outside the Other day when it was a LITTLE FOGGY :eg: and even though my setup is not done and was Not even in a Complete unit yet i turned it on and man was I impressed.! THe Beam that comes out of 3.4W+ is NUTS>!!!!! I also took a 1900mW 445nm out with me to compare and IMO it was Literally Night and Day.:eg: NO Comparison.

Kinda scary when you think about it.:tinfoil:

I was not able to take beam shots.:(

That is why I want to record temps if the module and heatsink in all my new tests... I generally dont monitor the temps of my computer unless I am gameing and I can easily monitor other temps instead just by hooking up a new probe. I actually could probably use the computer psu for anything laser I want to do. 1200W goes a long way. But I want to know what the temp of my module is when I start and the outer heatsink too. Will give me alot better idea of how the ambient temp plays a part in output.

And I must say sorry for my dusty mess... It looked alot better last week..

I could see the fridge causing more problems with multiple lense lenses but single where it is all exposed to fresh air will certainly make a difference. Most things in these builds wont corrode anymore. or at leist not like the used to. Not like flashlights of old..

I'm still missing the post that I said I put it in the freezer.. It was a refrigerator... mine sits arround +4 to +6C not in the -'s

AND I UNDERSTAND THE RISKS INVOLVED AND DO THIS VOLINTARILLLY lol

Ya think ASUS will give me a new RAMPAGE 3 mobo if my water system screwes it up?

Lead! Follow! or Get Out Of The way..!

OK my ambient is 28C right now the laser has been sitting on my desk the whole day I still have it all set up like yesterday I will test this at a stable 28C ambient. If I see 3W I doubt it will be for long. but who knows I'll record it anyway. Wish me luck!!!

Going to get my 9mm built tomorrow (laser not gun.

That's some cooling rig kizdawg.

You should upload pics in the "other" section so we can see it properly.

And a CPUID screen shot ;)

Oh tiz dead... Where did ya want my CPUID? over there in the "other" section.. I have an I7 970 @ 3.2ghz. 12 cpu's ~3.6ghz 12288 ddr3 corsair GT triple channel set and a bunch of copper water blocks I will never be able to upgrade... lol

No Light So I was thinking with the heat it fried the leads like my mits500 JULSE is supposed to be working on... Just wana Burn em... Get back to me.

IF Any of you are saying I'm stupid for doing this I can bark back. but I dont want to rant.. I did hope I was going to have more fun with it today but the luck wasnt in my favor I guess. I still got 3.48W out with a DTR G2 Lens so I am happy and if you are careful and get the right barrel the lense is close to the g2 for output (if you dont damage it) so I would rate it at about a 40$ lense so I only lost 60% of my purchase for research.

I was also at 6.1V when it died. And so was the psu!

Could we say now that 2.1A-2.2A are safe current ? It is still a long way to 3.1A in order to kill this diode.

Yeah In the "other" section, would be interested in seeing photos.
Back on topic,

I'm going to run mine at 2A on the nose and see how it does, I may up it to 2.2A if it holds.

2A wont get you there.. I'd say 2.4-2.6A 3.15A death Dont think teh gold leads can take it.

Sorry again Jordan.. I'll get another the next round.. I can still prove it's not my Equiptment.. haha

It's funny when I get a lower reading than I expect and I say it must be the equiptment everyone say's NO Your Equiptment is fine it is just you!!! AND THEN

When I get a read that I semi expected and it all looks good it is blamed on the equiptment and not me... lo0K OutSiD3!!! There is a Blue sky there!!!

If anyone is making barrelse for the lenses other than what I allready have (AUS_DAVE brass) msg me on a price for 5. These things should be flying off the shelf by now!

another note I can run the one in coppet at 2A without a heatsink. LOL naa got HOT in like 7 secs..
