Default My latest novelty build

I made this laser for a friend who just acquired the rights to market a new product using the Erox name and branding, which used to be a pretty popular pheromone cologne.

Anyway this was a fun little project. I started by taking one of his testors (they are made with an aluminum shell) and ripping out the innards, then grinding down and sanding the upper sprayer head assembly to accept a heatink. The assembly also made up what I would use as the pill, albeit a plastic one, but this was not going to be a really high powered laser, so I figured it would be OK.

I then drilled a hole in the bottom of the aluminum shell and dropped in a tailcap clicky switch, using JB Weld to secure it.

Next, I drilled a hole trough the top of the spray mister and glued an Aixiz focus ring inside, then screwed in a glass lense.

The heatsink fit nicely inside the sprayer assembly and plastic pill. I set and soldered a flexdrive to the diode, dropped it in the heatsink and secured it, attached a battery contact board and pushed the sprayer head into the shell.

I tapped on the clicky switch and out shone a beautiful blue beam at over 650mW.

I would have loved to have had a mirror to set angled in the spray mister so that the beam shone out where the spray would normally come from, but I didn't have any kind of mirror surface, and that would probably have been beyond my ability anyway. But, it is kind of cool because the white plastic sprayer area glows blue when its lasing.

Here's a few pics:

Very cool build, we used to see more builds like this but this is one of the better ones for style +2

Thanks! I was pretty happy with how it turned out.

And, it's the first build I've ever done where the wattage output at the diode actually exceeds the current in, which kind of surprised me.

Just my luck to stick a super efficient diode in a not so super powered build.

Do you have a CCW permit for that?
