Hello

So I bought a laser from lazeerer about one month ago maybe little more and got my laser recently and I today I wanted to pop balloons. Problem is, it can't. It can't even in 1 meters distance. No matter which focus I try, it won't and the laser is like 2.3W+. The rectangle is so big at only 1 meter even though I try all the settings.

What am I doing wrong?

Did you check whether the lens is tight in the focus adapter? Unscrew the focus adapter and if the lens stays in the module, it was loose! Either way take off the fous adapter and see if you can turn the lens housing in it...if you can, just tighten it up!;)

Edit: @ hoo7h did you actually solve your problem and if so what caused it?

Hmm, did you contact lazeerer about this?

He would be the one to contact first since he built it and will be able to help you diagnose the problem as he is a mad scientist.

Look at the RAW output to determine if the diode still lase.

Actually no, but I have few theories in my mind
1-I might wired the driver to the battery before I wire it to the diode, this might caused an extra current went to the diode and hurt it, even though I really doubt this, as the laser still have a great power if the thing I want to burn is close, so it might be a focusing problem.
2-There is a problem with my lens, I doubt this too as the diode has an unusual beam when I remove the lens.
3-Some dirt had been burnt on the window.
4-A problem with the manufacturing of the diode.

Not to derail this thread...but
1) Probably not you'd have killed the diode. If it's working, it wont be that.
2) Lens shouldnt be relevant, as your raw output was screwed up.
3) Ahh yup sounds like it! We all said that the diode window was probably dirty. If you burnt stuff on there, that would really mess up your output. Have you thought about decanning?
4) Doubt it.

If you want to reply, we can move this back to your original thread! ;)

Take pictures, or better yet a video of the problem.

"The rectangle is so big at only 1 meter even though I try all the settings." this doesn't make sense to me.

I mean have you tried another lens?

Sounds to me that your Focus adapter came Loose and the focus adapter is turning while the lens is not.:p

Happens all the time.

IF i would epoxy it on so this doesn't happen then it would make it difficult if you had to clean the lens down the road.

Simple Fix my freind.

Unscrew the focus adapter all the way.

Then you will see a Brass "Gold" Color threaded Nut.

Unscrew this Gold lens Nut.

Then Screw the Focus adapter and this gold nut back to together in the same order you took it apart.

Then your laser will focus again.

One other thing to check. Make sure you have the lens inserted the correct direction. It's pretty easy to put the lens in backwards (With the focus adapter on the wrong end)

If you take the focus adapter off the correct end of the lens barrel should have a notch on each side that looks like you could use a flat bladed screwdriver on. This end should be pointed away from the diode, not towards it.

This is assuming it's using a standard lens. I'm not sure what the G1 or G2 lens look like. (I'm too cheap to buy one)

I can take some photos if you need them.

To make it more confused, the new lensbarrel from DTR has the notch ON THE FRONT.
I guest this laser is using a G1/G2 lens because 2.3+ Watt is almost impossible with a standard glass lens.

Decanning, hmm I think I might consider doing it my self :)

It would be nice, ApexProxy diagnosed the problem and I think he is right.
See you there xD

Just tried it and it wasn't fixed.. When looking down the nut, it seems like the lens is sitting like on the side and not straight if you know what I mean.

Can't take any pics as my phone cam doesn't work no more..
