Looking for inspiration on an Arctic S3

I happened to acquire a 1W+ arctic from someone local who just happened to have one sitting in storage. Since my investment was next to nothing and I plan to use the host for an upgrade in the future, I dissected it.

I was very surprised to find little epoxy on the lens housing and so much thermal paste

Taking off the module that the diode fit into was a bad idea, given that it requires a dozen turns, which I forgot almost always rips out a wire. Surely enough, the positive wire broke off. A quick solder repair (very quick and low temp of course) fixed that, so prior to reinstalling the head, I twisted it in the opposite direction......yeah, didn't help. The negative wire came off. It doesn't help that the wires are rather stiff. I think some better quality wiring....whatever flexible wiring DTR uses for his products, will fix that problem.

Meanwhile, the 5.6mm diode gives hope that I can put in another one to run 1.5W with a good host. I can only do what one 3.7V can power.

I've done a lot of searching, but no luck yet. I like the idea of switching between low and high. I always like the momentary switch, but I favor a constant on as well. It was the host itself and those modes that had me eyeing the Arctic in the first place. The cost drove me away, but when I came across one in a pit find, I jumped on it.

I might stick with blue, despite me not being a fan of the divergence the 445nm has.

Any ideas?
