See this is what i "think" people think the WL laser is going to be like. (uneducated)
Yes they are very strong but lasers have been this power for so long.
Yeah the price drops but it happens over time.
i must say tho 24 is an amazing sight but it needs to be culminated to a solid beam and shinned straight up into the sky.
I would pay to see a beam like that.
check for planes first dont want to clip a wing off :D

So are you aiming the parallel beams all through a single large converging lens - perhaps the projector lens?

i think it was sarcasm.
it has to be there is no way someone could see it melt a screw driver but think it might not light a match.

I thought he was saying my idea of how Pontiacg5 focused all the beams together wouldn't produce a very tight focus.

I still want to know how it was done!

i think he just use the standard sled optics remember they have to shine threw the wheel thing to make green so it needs to be some sort of beam. just maybe modded a bit for super tight burn.

Right, makes sense, thanks.
I'm really interested to see the projector laser combining optics when you get your projectors apart, if you get a chance!

Now I'm thinking, if you can focus all 24 beams to a tight crosspoint, it should be possible to collimate the beams close together with a lens into one 24W beam!
Any optics experts tried that approach with diodes before?

I learned a single diode will boil coffee this morning.. (obviously not a CUP of coffee.. but a point of coffee)
These are scary! I need to find a real use for it.. spiro or scanner or something.. it's too much power for a pointer!
(who am I trying to fool.. Of course I'm keeping my high powered pointer!)

Update!

New projector! I was prepared this time!

YT discription said:
This is a Casio A140 projector. I focused all 24 of the diodes, each running at around 1600mW, to a single point. This is just a little sample of what it will do.

In no particular order...

CD case, both the black and clear sides.
White paper
A clear blue floppy
A rubber fishing worm
A VHS case
A soda can
Some cardboard
A plastic bag
Magnesium shavings
A clear yellow screwdriver
A black screwdriver extension handle

This is in a garage under an open window, the sun is still up and you can almost make the beams out without smoke. With smoke they are 100% visible, and this is practically 100% daylight.

Check out my amazing terrorist beard up close and personal

In the video info it said 1600mW each.

What is each diode being driven at ?
