So i have decided to build my first 445nm laser from scratch. I need some help with choosing parts. I am looking for an output of around 1.4W. I was thinking a m140 diode, with g1 lens, dual drivers and i am not entirely sure on which host as i would like a good duty cycle. Im also presuming that i will need good heatsinking for both the drivers and diode, copper more specifically. If anyone can help me out with more specifics that would be great!

Thanks:)

Hey bud, If you only want 1.4W you can save yourself some money here. Use the standadr aixiz 3 element AR coated 445nm glass lens ($5) you don't need the 405-G-1 ($50) lens for only 1.4W. You also will not need a complicated and costly dual flexdrive set up. You can use a single flexdrive maxed at 1.5A or even slightly less than max at 1.4A. You will need thermal epoxy (arctic silver) pick a host in which you can heatsink the driver directly to the pill or host wall or something. Since you are using an M140 diode you should easily be able to acquire 1.4W at 1.4-1.5A with the aixiz glass lens. Copper is not necessary for the diode but it is certainly the preferred metal for the heatsink to the diode.

Parts list:
1X Fledrive: (flamingPyro) Laser Pointer Forums - Discuss Lasers & Laser Pointers - View Profile: Flaminpyro

1X M-140 diode in aixiz module with 3 element glass lens: https://sites.google.com/site/dtrlpf/home/diodes/445-m140-didoes

1X host/heatsink combo: http://laserpointerforums.com/f64/fs-stainless-steel-18650-kit-polished-perfect-445-a-52159.html

If you choose the "hot option" from Jayrob you will not need to order the flexdrive separately from Flamingpyro. You will also not need to fuss with setting the driver or thermal epoxying it to the pill. It also takes care of more than half the solder connections required for the build. For a newb I highly recommend this option.

You still selling those 1.2+watt 445's for 135$? I am interested when I get paid next. :)

I will have 3 of those available for sale soon. I am just waiting on the drivers to show up in the mail.
