Been doing some research on the net and I believe I have found everything. But before I go and buy these parts, I would like to know if all these parts are compatible. So here are the links

I have a host and a heat sink.

And am I missing anything? and any other recommendations?

i wouldnt use those parts. first off the driver isnt set and depending on your host you may need a 17mm driver. also you can get a diode pressed in a module from DTR. if you buy that diode you will need to get a diode press. also depending on the driver and host, you may need 2x 16340 or just 1x 18650.

you need to give us the host model so we can help you but from what you posted id say there are cheaper and easier ways. look up mohgasm and DTRs shop and start there

Oh well DTR and canjunlasers are the two places to go if you want to build a laser.

After going through the websites you suggested(thank you for providing them) and doing some more research, I believe I got everything needed

445nm 9mm Diode In V4 Copper Module W/2.2A X-Drive Stock Lens Option(difference between stock and nonstock lens?)
as of now I am not worried about the host, and if i use 2 18650 batteries, what would be the output?

well what host and heat sink are you using for one since a 9mm @ 2.2A will put some heat out. if the heat sink isnt large enough, it will have a duty cycle of like 30 second on 2 minute off. either way id expect 2W-3W+

think i can use some metal washers for heatsink?

not sure that host will work. i dont see any place for the heat sink and if those two round pieces on the left are the heat sink then i dont see a set screw.

plus that wont handle a 9mm diode even if you did get it to work. you need something like THIS heat sink and THIS host

those are just examples of the size you will need to properly dissipate the heat from a 9mm @ 2.2A

The cree C8 is a nice host with a decent heat sink. you can get an extension tube and run the 2x 18650 if you want or 2x 16340 as is.

if you want to find that host and heat sink cheaper or a different host and heat sink that will work, let me know and ill do some digging for you.

That host would do fine, but the diode piece on the website says it runs on (2)3.7 volt batteries, so if i am understanding you correctly then, I would need to get an extender to run the 2 18650 batteries. Right?

i still dont think it would work but its your build and its up to you. i will promise you that the duty cycle will be short in that host with the diode and driver you are using.

yes you'd need an extension tube for 2x 18650. 2x 16340 will be just as powerful, only advantage of the 18650 is longer time between recharge.

BTW you'd also need a contact board for this to work and afaik there is no pill in that host so this helps confirm this host not working. you could cut the leads and solder a spring to the driver but you need to adjust it as needed

Ok, is there perhaps another host and heat sink that would allow longer duty cycles?

So is the heat transfer be the only thing that would prevent this laser from working?

well you could probably make that host work but afaik that host is only used for cheap 532nm lasers which have a long module and driver with spring all in one piece.

for a 9mm @ 2.2A, id suggest the C8 i linked above. you could use a C6 as well but it has a smaller heat sink thus not as good at heat transfer. you can also go with a saik but then you'd need to have a custom heat sink machined.

i recommended the C8 and C6 since they are a common host with easily available heat sinks. the C8 will cost you more but it will also allow for longer duty cycles.

one of the most expensive parts of your build is going to be laser safety glasses, which you WILL NEED with any laser, especially this build

Would these parts assembled work? I understand that a short duty cycle would be required. And am i missing any other required parts?

with the C8 you will get a longer duty cycle so that is a good choice. ive never used that heat sink but i watched the video to understand how its designed. from what i can see it is a direct press heat sink. this means that you need to get the $80 diode and then buy a G2 or three element lens OR you can get the $95 diode and use the stock 9mm lens in the lens housing provided.

to get the diode into the heat sink you will need a diode press. Flaminpyro sells them HERE for $15 + shipping. this way you wont destroy your $85+ diode.

if you dont want to do that heat sink then you can contact Mrcrouse and he can machine one up to accept the module unit DTR sells. if i had to guess, those would be around $25-35 but then you wouldnt need to buy a diode press and this is a much safer way to go

I have requested a heatsink build from that guy and is waiting to hear back.

For safety glasses, do i need a special build for the 445nm wavelength or could it be one of thoose heavily tinted glasses?

no clue what heavily tinted you are referencing but yes you need laser safety glasses

for glasses id suggest getting eagle pair from survival laser

You know those glasses you get after you get eye drops put in after the eye doctors to dilate your eyes?
