Interesting design. You might have some luck if you pop out the star and then put small pliers in the holes where the leads came through to get to the diode star. That might give you a place to grip if it is part of the pill. Make sure that when you remove the driver that came in the C8 that you don't break it since you are going to need it as the contact board.

Its possible that you could just not remove the pill but it would like make things more difficult to work with.

We can guide you when it comes to soldering DTR's module to the contact board because you are going to need to follow traces and make sure you solder to the right parts. You might need a better camera to take a picture of the board though...

Yeah i will attempt it.

The camera i took it with was a to high resolution picture so i had to make it a smaller image.

It wasn't so much the size of the image but the sharpness. Maybe try more light next time.

Yes, you will need a lens holder. I suggest the extended one because it makes it easier to focus without burning your fingers.

I suggest getting a nice wider focus adapter......that helps out a lot more than the extended holder but will cost you more.......I have a larger one that i dont think im going to use, its too big to fit on a C6 or 501b so would be perfect for a C8 build. let me know if your interested in it

I found either one helps. I'm not typically one for wide focus adapters because I usually like to see the heatsink. My main exception being this 3W beast with its custom FlaminPyro heatsink and focus adapter :p

The one im not going to use is like the ones Moh had made up, minus the machined logo. it is polished aluminum and is about 1/4" think iirc

For reference, the ones from Moh are 5mm thick and have a diameter of 19mm and look like this :p

They actually fit pretty well with the Ice line of lasers I sell.

ApexProxy, if the extended lens holder to focus the beam looks like the ones that are in your profile picture, then i would believe it would be just fine.

Thats what it is and yes it is fine to focus the laser however some people have a tough time keeping their fingers out of the beam and burn themselves from time to time

The extended barrel is longer than the ones in my profile picture actually. Lenses like the G2 and the stock 9mm lens sit much closer to the diode than most other lenses(like the 3-element ones in my profile pic) which means they thread in further sometimes making it difficult to be able to grab ring without being burned. The extended barrel helps with that. You can also get a larger focus ring later on if you find the extended barrel to be insufficient.
