Hey,
This is my first build / first post :)
I used a Nichia NDB7875 445nm 9mm with a 405-G-2 lens.
As for the host, i used a Hexbright flashlight (originally from kickstarter).

I also used a jack so i can remove / change the diode or put something else.

Inside the host is a USB rechargeable, fully programmable circuit, with 1.8A limitation.

i PWMed three different output power so i can use the low/middle power to adjust the focus before going to full power.

For now the end isn't as pretty as i'd like, but i really like the host :)

I hope you guys like it too :)

That's really impressive Magestik! The host is very unique and the modular setup is awesome. 3 power levels and USB rechargeable. Just a brilliant build :gj:

Can't say I really like the host... :D

But if it works, it's good. That copper heatsink, it appears as it's made for Aurora C6 host.

Note, you are HARDLY getting 3W from 1.8 Amps, my guess would be around 2 Watts, with G- series lens.

But even 2 Watts is a LOT of power, always be sure to take care where's it pointed!

Thank you :)

Yes, i must have written 3W somewhere, but not here, as i'm hardware limited to 1.8A, i know it can't be 3W :)
Anyway even 2W gives a nice beam, of course i'll make some pictures with a proper camera.

Very nice build sir. I never would have thought of an inter-changeable host. And BTW, welcome to the forum. +1 for you.

Great idea with the headphone jack and the USB rechargeable functionality!

Just one thought though, perhaps next time you could use a driver in the heatsink, instead of the circuit on the battery, or have some way to adjust the current on the internal board (perhaps programed switch or pot). That way you could actually swap out the entire heatsink/diode head to have the correct current for a new diode/laser?

Anyway extremely inventive! +1
